Kiyomizu Shukuba

We had one of the best experiences on our last trip to Japan staying here. The place is a remodeled traditional Japanese home with a great attention to the details on each corner, everything is placed in a very aesthetic and functional way and the beds are very comfy. The location is also perfect since it´s located a few minutes from the most crowded areas but at the same time next to the Kiyomizu-dera which is very hard to access after the 9 AM. Staying here allowed us to wake up in a decent time and walk the surrounding without being rushed by the waves and waves of tourists of arriving the area. The host was very kind with us and gave a lot of useful information from the area and great recommendations of Kyoto, she also offers a traditional home made breakfast and lunch next door, this is a must try, since it´s hard to find something better to try around.

Everything. Beautiful house, very comfortable sleeping, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom. perfect location and great host. Chikka prepared for us delicious Japanese breakfast in her restaurant downstairs. When asked for recommendation, received answers immediately. It was an amazing stay and would highly recommend it.

An amazing find! Chika gave us so many recommendations on where to explore Kyoto and also cooked us traditional Japanese Breakfast at her Diner downstairs every morning. It elevated our Kyoto experience to another level!

This has been one of our best vacation rentals ever! The cottage is spacious and clean, has comfortable beds and a good shower (it also has a small balcony). Best of all, it's in the heart of Gion! It is on a quiet side street that leads up to the most popular spots in Kyoto (Ninezaka - the picturesque steps, Kiyomizu-dera, Yasaka shrine) - all less than a 5 minute walk away. The location also has amazing restaurants and coffee shops within a 5-10 minute walk. Because of where the cottage is situated, we got the best views and pictures in Kyoto before the crowds got there. The host (Chika-san) was absolutely wonderful! She gave us great recommendations, received our bags through baggage delivery service and sent our bags to the next destination on check-out. And the highlight of the stay - she runs a restaurant downstairs and hosted a special traditional breakfast just for us before the restaurant opened (breakfast available for a nominal additional cost upon request). Delicious flavours and unique dishes! And she accommodated one of our special diets. The restaurant is really cute and peaceful! Highly recommended!

We had a lovely time in Kyoto and the house was very nice and clean, with many traditional designs combined with modern comfort. Our host, Chika, was extremely kind and helpful - she even had a folder with key places to visit and was always quick to respond to any questions we had. Many thanks to Chika for making our holiday in Kyoto so enjoyable - you are a great host and we hope to come back again soon.

I loved everything about this cute tradional home. I was what I was looking for, and was very comfortable. The location is very close to the temples and gion area. So much to see, the owner was kind enough to put together a folder of information on what to see and where they were in the area. Very helpful, as well as useful information about local Dr if needed. Had a lovely tradional japanese breakfast in the owners restaurant located downstairs from the apartment. Also had access to walking sights of some of the older homes in the area that you could walk by. I came across a few in the books, which I loved. I will be coming back here for another stay in the future. Recommend this apartment for a stay while in kyoto. Owner was so help and had great knowledge of the area as a local. Amazing stay.

Train lines are further away, but buses are within walking distance just around the corner.
