"Visually beautiful but, sadly, not living up to its promise of being away from it all"

Visually, the property was stunning and full of promise: green, natural surroundings, and a lot of care had been taken with creating the facilities. It is also not far from Levin - though felt a world away - and just up the road from the Greek Monastery which was definitely worth checking out.

I SO wanted to love this property, and I'd booked two nights with the aim of experiencing some time out with peace and quiet, which is increasingly difficult to find these days. I'd gone off reviews which talked about "tranquillity", "serenity" and how "magic" The kauri Tree Pod was. So I was totally unprepared for the noise: how ironic that, at an off-grid place, I should be bothered by the constant drone of a nearby electric fan motor. This noise permeated the entire compound, even the walls of the sleeping cabin. The grating sound cut through the bird song and wind in the leaves. The bath, with it's view of trees and ferns was divine, but I abandoned the idea of taking advantage of it as the backdrop of constant humming wouldn't enable me to enjoy it. My plan had been to chill out at the place but I ended up spending hours in the Levin township as a break. I'd paid a premium for being "away from it all" only to pay a lot of money to subject myself to sound that is a form of torture for me. Hence my deep disappointment.

What isn’t there to like about this property? Very private, an amazing mixture of back to basics and aesthetic design, bush walks or even hunting possible from here. A real getaway!

I love the location it was so beautiful! The bath was so so amazing and relaxing. The property is not far from town so you can drive in and check out the shops and grab a coffee or food. I highly recommend staying here.

I didn’t like not having outlets but other than that it was an amazing experience.. Felt really good to unplug

I would recommend that you go for 2nights. 1 felt like a tease. Beautiful place. So relaxing. Lovely in warm. Will be going back real soon. Host was super nice. X
