The View Matera

This is a traditional rustic room that is perfectly located in the old part of Matera. Suited our needs very well to explore Matera in one full day. Claudio is a great host, really responsive and his restaurant recommendations were perfect.

The location of the studio apartment is excellent! With views of Sassi without having to get down to the Sassi. Communication with the hosts was excellent and he helped me figure out how to park. There are actually 2 units at The View Matera, mine was on the right, which is not the one with access to rooftop for the best views.

I mistakenly thought that the unit came with a kitchenette. It only had a microwave. Would have been better if the hosts left some map of Matera, to help guests plan their way around. Otherwise, all was expected.

Great location and room. While we were in the second room, without the semicircular window view, our view was still fabulous. In a very accessible location, which was ideal for my mobility issues. Highly recommend this accomodation and would definitely stay here again. Loved it.

No coffee pods for coffee machine but hey, many cafes nearby.

Location was spot on! Taxi pulled up at the door yet we were still right in the heart of the old city. View from the room was magnificent. Communication with host was great and very helpful.

If I had to find something, the plastic cover on the mattress made it very noisy and hot for sleeping on

The location within easy reach to the Sassi and the beautiful pedestrianised city of Matera. The view especially at night from the window is wonderful and the apartment has all you need.

the pictures provided on booking.com are not reflective of the room. it was not clear that only 1 of the rooms had the views and terrace promised on booking.com

Great location just on the upper edge of the Sasso Barisano, just a few minutes walk to Piazza Vittorio Venezia. Nice view across to the Cathedral bell tower and the Sassi. Spacious. Quiet. Nice shower. Comfortable bed. Attentive and responsive host. Host gave us great recommendations for restaurants etc.

There are two rental units in the building, next to each other. In the listing, it wasn’t entirely clear to us which photographs applied to which unit. There is a photo that depicts a perfect view of the Sassi and Cathedral, with a hanging chair by the window. That photo turned out to be the other unit, not the one we stayed in. Our view of the Cathedral was partially blocked by another building. While our view was spectacular, it wasn’t the view featured in the listing. The unit was generally clean, however as short-term rental hosts ourselves, it was not quite up to our standards. There was an unclean ice cube tray in the freezer. Finally, we found it difficult to find parking on the streets nearby and ended up using a garage for 20 Euros per day. Not a major inconvenience but it was an outcome we hadn’t anticipated.
