"The perfect stay in Matera"

A beautiful and atmospheric property in a beautiful and atmospheric town. We fell in love with both and really appreciated the many finishing touches and details that made our stay perfect, the comfortable and beautifully renovated authentic sassi property, gorgeous linen, comfortable beds and thoughtful extras such as complimentary snacks and breakfast. The location was perfect, the hosts welcoming and kind. I could not recommend this stay more. The renovated original bathroom space is a delight.

There was nothing to dislike. Although the space is compact, the space is zoned well and allowed opportunity for privacy and space for our family of two teens and parents.

Beautiful renovation of the dwelling that is partially carved into the rock. The location for touring Matera is great and the hostess is the best.

The property is beautiful, clean, well maintained and very comfortable. It was a very unique property and had a lot of charm. We loved staying there! The home was brightly lit, felt very cool even thought it was extremely hot outside. We almost didn't need to use the air conditioning - we did use it at night and it worked extremely well. The host was very kind, professional and friendly. She was a pleasure to meet! The host also provided various breakfast/snack foods - we especially enjoyed the locally made lemon cake. It was always quiet inside the property - we couldn't really hear much noise from the outside, which made for a relaxing space to be in. Our children loved sleeping in the mezzanine. There were many great restaurants nearby, which was convenient as we were traveling with kids. Matera is amazing and staying in this property made our experience even better. We highly recommend it.

The location is right in the middle of the Sassi, so we had to walk with our luggage from the covered parking lot nearby. If you have very heavy luggage I'd recommend organizing a transfer. You can drive right by the front door before 10am - that is very convenient for the departure day.
