Host & Stay - The Alby

We have stayed at The Alby before and loved it, but the renovations have made the space work much better and we loved it even more. Superb location, just a few minutes walk into Whitby town (the walk back is up a very steep hill). Two parking spaces, well stocked kitchen although an extra tea towel would have been appreciated if I'm being super nit picky! Kids loved the bunk room with the little toy kitchen and games. A lovely, cosy stay. We hope to stay again in the future.

Beautiful home, very clean and well equppied. Whitby centre was only a short walk away. Would highly recommend.

Check out was at 10, 11 would have been better.

We had a great stay at The Alby. It is a very comfortable, clean and well presented property, only a 5 minute walk from Whitby centre. We really liked the little extras well thought out by the owners for example a toy box packed full of toys and a cupboard full of games which were a life saver as we did not have much packed in terms of entertainment for the little ones. Communication with host and stay was excellent, queries were answered within a matter of minutes. I would definitely recommend staying here.

The mattresses were too soft for us but this is personal preference and we are used to a very firm mattress at home.

There were plenty of bed options,although would have preferred a super king bed but understand space is an issue.

An extra bathroom to service 10 guests would have been better, although there were only 6 adults & 2 children it was still an issue. The table in the living room took too much space. An option would be to remove the breakfast bar & the cupboards (which hardly had anything in them) along that wall in the kitchen. The table could then go in the kitchen. Another sofa in the living room would then be ideal. There didn't seem enough room for 6 adults to chill in the living room.

The house was lovely bit hard to find when parking needs a sign or something so you know your in the right place .Expexted the key box to be in the courtyard as it was slippery and dark coming down the garden steps .

The postition was great walked into whitby downhill but got taxi back as uphill was a struggle with two of our party with walking disabitities. It would have been nice to have some milk and some bread or pastries .Ive stayed in houses before where we had a few nice touches such as milk croissants and pastries .

Close to Whitby Station. The problems that we had were resolved quickly.

With a tripled room rate due to the goth festival, a non returnable cleaning fee of £150, and a non negotiable damage fee with a charge of £12, I expected better. Looks like they didn't even vacuum. I get the impression they do not check the property between guests, as the main kitchen light was flashing uncontrollably, which was terrifying as one of our party was epileptic. They had no idea about this obviously. Did fine, but for all the money they kept trying to take, absolute joke.
