Griffin Cottage

A spacious cottage in a fantastic location tucked away among the fishermen's cottages on the West side. It's in easy walking distance of the huge beach and every amenity in Whitby. There are three bathrooms, and all the beds are very comfortable. NB: the stairs to the second floor bedroom are steep. The local streets are very narrow with one-way systems so it's essential to follow the owner's excellent instructions about driving there.

Although the cottage was well-equipped with all the usual appliances, in the kitchen we found that oven dishes and frying pans were either old and dirty or absent and there was a lack of various small utensils. The local contact was responsive and said she would rectify this.

Gorgeous stay and a perfect location. Spacious and comfortable in a quiet area so close to the harbour. Had everything we needed.

Some rooms were a little cold and draughty at night but there were plenty of blankets so easily solved.

Facilities weren’t great - no milk and only 3 teabags, lack of information eg how to work the heating. Rooms looked a bit tired

The under floor heating! A plethora of bathrooms. The olde worldly charm of the place. The parking. Dog friendly. Central. Milk, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, cloths & towels supplied.

No bottle opener, no cheese grater.
