The Barn, rustic country cottage dog friendly

Location very good, easy to travel to Whitby, Robin Hoods bay. Good park and ride at Whitby.

Unfortunately from lunch time we tried to get the code for the key box , I was sent various links from yourselfs to send my ID then I would be given the code , l tried various times to no avail, I then rang various numbers which I left messages on voicemail because nobody answered. We arrived at the property and sent another message saying we were sat outside,the answer we got was fill in the link regarding ID . This is a ridiculous way of trying to get a code . At this point the owners dad came out of a workshop and gave us the code , it was his daughter who ran the accommodation, I did ask him to let her know that we had got the key. At no point did anyone get in touch during our stay. Please find another way get a key code, never have we had problems like this, it was a good job the dad was in or we would have to find other accommodation or sleep in the car.

Lovely and cozy and secluded

The location was super. Close to Whitby with its shops and restaurants but far enough outside the town to feel you were in the depths of the countryside. That made it so quiet and peaceful that we slept so well in what was a very comfortable bed. The cottage was spotless and well equipped, (we cooked two nights we were there) with a lovely bathroom and shower. Honestly, for us as a couple, it was practically perfect, with attentive hosts - and some dogs that made you feel very welcome whenever they spotted you arriving back. Sorry to leave - and if we ever come back to this part of the Yorkshire coast we would book the cottage again in a heartbeat.

As someone who is 6’ 1”, I had to learn to climb into bed carefully and without bumping my head. That is clearly visible in the photos and goes with the physical size, style and charm of the place - and so that isn’t a complaint, just an observation for other tall people to be aware of.

The property was beautiful renovated and had everything we needed. Close to lots of different destinations for us to visit without being stuck in tourist central. The people and dogs were lovely.

N/A Should be noted there is no phone signal however WiFi provided is good.

It was a lovely cosy cottage with everything you needed for a great stay the family where lovely and really helpful and if you needed anything just ask them we really enjoyed our stay.
