Perfect location. Quiet and within easy access to Whitby. The cottage was perfect for relaxing.

Doors were a bit stiff and the shower did not run continually at one temperature.

"Quiet, well-equipped holiday home but slow wifi, no phone reception, and hazardous bedroom"

Semi-rural location just 10 minutes' drive from Whitby. Attractive, well-equipped property.

The wifi was very slow and also unreliable. After twenty minutes I lost the connection and had to reset the router. The same thing happened the next day. I could not get any mobile phone reception in the house (I'm with O2). The bathroom/toilet is downstairs but the bedroom is upstairs, which is not ideal. The staircase is very narrow and so it's difficult to lug a large suitcase upstairs. The worst thing about this place is the bedroom, which is a velux loft conversion. Unless you are under four feet tall it is impossible to get into bed from either side without having to bend down to avoid banging your head on the hard wooden beams that form the sloping ceiling. The bed could be approached less hazardously from the end but a large chest is unhelpfully placed at the foot of the bed. In other words, you have to constantly be vigilant about banging your head against the ceiling while simply getting in and out of bed. At one point, too focused on avoiding this mishap, I cracked my leg on part of the hard wooden bed frame that juts out at the side (and which is somewhat camouflaged because it is the same shade as the floor; see photos) leaving a nasty bruise.
