the comfort, the view

Away from the crowds this place serves as an ideal home base to which you can return to after a roadtrip through the northern fjords. During the night we could see northers lights all around us (late November, cloudy but the sky cleared up for 2-3h). The fireplace is a huge plus and provides a nice ambiance next to „heat“. The kitchen was well equipped and we could easily prepare food on both days of our stay. On one day the landlord removed some snow from the path which led to our cabin - helpful as we used it with our car. Note: We didn’t use the 2nd floor at all. We also never met the landlord - this can feel weird but we actually enjoyed the seclusion.

Everything was good. The only confusing part was the waste separation: In the waste drawer there were 3-4 bags for different waste types, but some didn’t seem to match still (e.g. a glass jar doesn’t fit to paper, organic, or plastic). So we were puzzling for the 2 days but then realized on the last day of our departure that all bags were disposed all together in one black container - I still hope we didn’t mess this up. 🙏🏻

Amazing house with the most fantastic view! The house has everything someone may need during their stay! The hosts were very kind and willing to help us in whatever we needed! We hope to come back one day!

That we left!

Best part of this stay was the host who went above and beyond to help us with anything we needed. The cottage is beautiful, in middle of nature, amazing lake view and with all facilities you need during a vacation.

Everything was perfect and as described. We are very happy with our stay and I would definitely go back.

It was a perfect holiday! The cottage is beautiful and really well equipped. The location is absolutely stunning. Our hosts were most welcoming and helpful! And we saw the most amazing aurora from our terrace!

We were warmly welcomed by Jan, who was extremely supportive during our stay in Karistua. He made sure we had all what was needed to relax and unwind. We loved the cabin. It has everything you need for a short or long stay. Amenities are top notch including sharp knives ( we love to cook). After a long day out cross country skiing we were so happy to warm up near the fireplace. Cabin is also extremely well insulated with floor heating in some parts! We didn’t want to leave! It’s easy to find even in the dark.

Nothing. Everything was perfect.

The experience was exceptional in every aspect. The place exceeded expectations with its abundance of space and a fully equipped kitchen. Despite the already efficient central heating, a charming fireplace added to the cozy atmosphere. Jan, our host, was outstanding, attending to every need with warmth and efficiency.

Leaving! It was so difficult. We were already planning our return before we even departed. That's how much we enjoyed our stay!

Beautiful place for watching aurora (if you are lucky).

I would prefer GPS coordinates of the cabin. We struggled to find it until our host picked up from the wrong cabin :)

This place is amazing. Jan & Kari made us very welcome. Such a lovely couple. The cabin has everything you need for a cozy stay. Plenty of room, fireplace, nature and brilliant views. We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights almost every night during our week long stay. We didn't want to leave, we would happily move there ;) I
