"Technically the description is accurate - but realistically, it's far from the truth."

3.0

The couch was comfortable to sleep on, unfortunately I wanted to sleep in the King sized bed.

We left a day early, even though it was non-refundable because everything was wrong. Technically, this place is described accurately. But man, it did not match expectations. Location: sure the geographic location in relation to other things is convenient. However, the pictures show an idelic cottage and the reality is this DUPLEX is located 100 feet of the main motorway, which I could forgive if there wasn't a cattlegrate in the onramp....so you hear that jarring sound all day and night. The furniture is WAY too big for the space and creates problems begin able to move around the space. The TV doesn't fit in the living room, so they angled it and then put a huge coffe table (whose top is not secured to the base) right up against it. Had a hard time getting in/out and to/from the couch. It was nice to have an actual king sized bed in the UK, which the room had ample space for - but the four poster frame was so big, it made trying to navigate around this difficult (and resulted in stubbed toes and smacked funny bones), not mention it was so creaky and loud it made sleeping almost impossible (in fact I slept on the couch because of the noise from the cattle grate and the bedframe). It's described as romantic - not sure how the periodic sound of a cattle grate, the loud, creaky four poster bedframe, a shared wall in the master bedroom, active maintenance directly ourside our window, and forced late arrival due to delayed cleaning is in anyway romantic or relaxing. The property managers were very nice. However. Upon our arrival, they were still cleaning it. Which meant we walked into a humid space with still wet surfaces that reaked of bleach so badly we had to open every window. Which would have helped, except they were still outside staining the wooden chairs (that we couldn't then use during our stay). So our choice was headache by bleach or wood varnish.

"Perfect location, and excellent hosts!"

10.0

Everything was perfect - the cottage is absolutely immaculate! The location is really handy and you cannot hear the motorway at all. The hosts were also incredibly helpful after we accidentally left our dog's ball behind! 10/10 recommend.

Nothing!

"Never again!"

2.0

Nothing to be honest

This is not a Lake District romantic getaway. The location is right next to a truck stop and all night we had trucks literally 100 yards from the house and the constant noise from the M6. From brake systems releasing air pressure to engines revving we barely slept and that was with the windows closed. It was so hot in the place and we had no instructions to operate a very difficult system. We couldn’t open any windows due to the constant noise whilst inside was like a sauna.

"Superb value for money, it’s a generous self catering b&b in pretty grounds, that wants to please. Also the roundabo"

9.0

Very clean. Great location. It’s so peaceful and quiet, set in beautiful lawns with a pretty stream - it’s hard to imagine it’s actually so close to the convenience of the motorway and the beginning of the route to Windermere (45 mins). Very easy and straightforward directions from hosts to the property and key retrieval was super easy. Great quality, if expensive, farm shop at the petrol station. Everything felt generous - big bathroom, big four post bed, big TVs, even big chunky marble style tables. Decent, very usable kitchen, main bed had a good en-suite with jacuzzi bath and Bluetooth mirrors. All in all, it was very good value for money but without feeling in any way cheap. Oh and cute details, such as the hare embroidery on the children’s duvet and bird motifs that turn up around the accommodation, such as peacock wallpaper in some rooms and pheasant chair covers etc. Ideal for families, friends, young and old.

A few complimentary coffee pods for the coffee pod machine (with opportunity to buy some more) would be better than awful Nescafé sachets, especially as the farm shop doesn’t sell them.

Nice friendly, helpful host and location was good

It was difficult to control the temperature in the house. Would have been helpful to have a booklet on how all the appliances worked.
