The location (walking distance from the city center and the train station), the premises (large area, 3 flat screen tvs, good internet connection, fridge stocked with food), the host (very friendly and always available)

The bathroom (sewage smell, not possible to throw toilet paper in the wc, low pressure water in the shower)

Everything was super

We slept really well. Place has cool interior and good light covering on the windows. Carlo made everything easy and was very responsive. A real super host. Nice decorations and great to have some welcoming items in The fridge. So convenient for the train station.

Almost nothing as it was so convenient and carefully thought through. The front door can be a bit stiff. The instructions are very clear but it’s fair to say the courtyard door opens more easily.

Good location. Owner was AMAZING at communicating. Easy for families. Owner made the stay great: always checking in. Would stay here again.

The upstairs has a low ceiling, at 1.85m/6'1", I had to duck. Not a deal breaker.

It's big space.

This place doesn't deserve any 10s or 9s. It smells very bad - moldy and sewage. It looks clean but the first thing I saw when I entered the bathroom was a big cockroach on the floor. On top it is in very dirty area of the city. The 'parking' is the street itself and it doesn't look safe at all. When we asked the host why there are cockroaches running around he said they were coming under the door and offered a bottle of wine as an excuse. I'm not sleeping with cockroaches for a bottle of wine.

everything was exceptional, the host was really nice

The property met our expectations 100% - it is very close to the central bus station which allows you to travel around the whole island by bus or train. At the same time, within 10 minutes you walk to the historical centre of Catania. Nearby there are small shops and cafes as well as Lidl. The street is quiet, and the apartment is nice and cozy. It is not easy to find a comfortable place for our family of 5, but this apartment was ideal both for the parents and for the children (and safe, which is very important). The booking was on BB, and we found plenty of food in the fridge and on the shelves as well as all the necessities in the bathroom. The very important part of it was very good communication with the owner, Carlo who was extremely helpful with any questions and issues.

Holiday Home da Carlo is exceptional, both the location and quality of accommodation. Very comfortable and spacious for the four of us, the breakfast provided was so useful. We loved all of it

Nothing

Breakfast in the fridge was actually a good idea. The sleeping space upstairs was dark and quiet. The location was convenient both for getting into the center on foot and being near the main train station. Taking the train to the airport was cheap and easy. There’s a nice pizzeria nearby where they speak English.

No microwave. The place probably needs a good thorough cleaning. I wasn’t exactly excited about the €150 deposit but through PayPal isn’t wasn’t that complicated in the end. I just thought it was unnecessary.
