Glanafon Cottage

Well presented and good location to explore snowdonia.

It is nicely located near ZipWorld which was great for our trip. The sound of the river flowing is very serene and helps with relaxing. Did not need to cook during our stay as there are all types of takeaways and general stores all within 5 mins walking distance. There is a local dog walking park 10 mins away which was a great help.

The view of the river is absolutely stunning and very relaxing. Area was very quiet, not a single noise can be heard from the street or neighbours. It is excellent location for Zipaworld, local grocery shop, take aways and etc. Easy to find and get to. Shower and beds were very clean and comfortable. Heating is very good and easy to use. Parking was busy but we still managed to find a spot easily right by the cottage. Kitchen leads into garden/river area so it was very convenient. Large dishwasher with washing tablets for it. There was everything you would need to cook a good meal and clean up after. TV worked very well, you can log in to your Netflix, Prime, Disney or etc. Comfy sofas to chill out. Communication from the owner is exceptional. Very clear instructions are sent to you well in advance. 10 points on that. No unanswered questions.

When we walked inside there was a bit unpleasant damp smell on the first floor and ground floor. I assume it's because cottage not been used recently, heating was off and all windows were closed. But it wasn't a big problem, we opened all the windows, later on we put the heating on and it was great (no smell in bedrooms on the top floor). We had no problem walking up and down the stairs, we have little girl so security gate were good enough to keep her safe. However, people with moving disabilities or those who struggle going stairs should take this into consideration.

There was a lingering smell in the kitchen that made it difficult to use the facilities comfortably. We tried to minimize the smell by keeping the doors open, but it left the house feeling chilly. We reported this on the first day, but it was not able to be rectified during our stay. We were advised that the previous guest also raised this. Additionally, the beds that were converted into bunk beds are quite noisy, which is disrupted everyone's sleep. The lack of ladders to access the top bunk and limited space for those on the bottom bed due to them not being true bunk beds were problematic.

Great price and location, only 20 minute drive from Snowdon trail. Handy Tesco Express within walking distance, and lovely view of river at back of property.

There was a foul smell in the kitchen area when we arrived which lingered for our whole stay. We only stayed in the apartment to sleep as we were out all day, but when we were there we avoided being in the kitchen area, and we defiantly wouldn’t have wanted to cook or eat in there.

Location was everything! Stunning cottage right beside the river and close to all amenities.
