"Idyllic view in Portree."

10.0

Really great location! Right above restaurants and the harbor. The sunset picture was from the bedroom window!

They were still doing renovations harbor side, so very limited parking.

Location by the harbour.

Parking was challenging, which was unavoidable due to location. However bins by entrance gate and poor state of front door court yard area very uninviting.

"Over priced, not maintained, dirty"

2.0

The ease of check-in and the location were great.

For the price of this property, it was very poorly maintained. Upon arrival, we had to walk over piles of trash just to get to the stairs. While that may not be the host’s fault, it was extremely unpleasant to come and go while passing such smelly garbage each time. Once we arrived at the flat, we were greeted by stained, dirty carpet — honestly, it was pretty disgusting. I messaged the host about the mildew around all the bedroom windows, and instead of addressing the concern professionally, he mocked me and replied, “Did you lift the carpet too?” It was clear he was irritated because I mentioned the trash situation as well. For the price we paid, you would expect basics like shampoo and soap, but there was none provided. The furniture in the TV room was extremely old and gross — you can see the photos I posted for reference. The beds only had a bottom sheet (no top sheet), and there was hair in my daughter’s bed when we arrived. Overall, this place is extremely overpriced and very dirty. We had to wash all the flatware before using it, and there were crumbs from previous guests still in the trays. The baseboards — and honestly most of the house — clearly need a deep cleaning and better maintenance. The owner tried to claim my comments were “untrue,” but I have plenty of photos to back up everything I’m saying. The listing photos are very deceiving. On top of everything, the towels provided were old, rough, and very unpleasant to use. I would not stay here again and would not recommend this property.

"Comfortable place to stay on the Isle of Skye!"

Location, the owner was wonderful and extremely helpful. The apartment was clean and comfortable.

Finding it! The directions were good. The gate, on a rainy day is a bit hard to see.

"Dated - needs a freshen up"

5.0

The location was good and the property was clean and tidy. The use of nightlights in the property was a good idea, especially with children

The property could do with a face lift. The stairs leading to the property lead to an old front door which has a tiny court yard with a table and chairs. There have been items left around this area and it's not overly inviting. As you enter the front door it leads you into a vestibule and straight ahead is the bathroom and then the stairs to the left and the kitchen a little further ahead on the left. The bathroom was ok even if the shower curtain was one of those that tends to stick to you as you shower. The kitchen was dated and reminded me of my nans house. It has an electric hob but doesn't have an oven. The sink is strangely placed under the stairs so is a little awkward. The kitchen did have an array of utensils but again these looked quite old. The table and chairs in the kitchen were a little odd and, as our daughter pointed out, wouldn't tuck under the table when eating. It was a mish mash of things. The kitchen leads through to the lounge and the sofas really have seen better days and were really uncomfortable. The filling in the sofa has long gone and you always felt like you were slipping forward when sitting on them. The view from this window is great though. The TV is in the corner of the room and the freesat box etc was literally hanging loose by the side of it and it wasn't overly easy to workout what needed to happen to make the TV work at first. Some people may find this a little awkward to work and understand. (Upstairs) - when you go up the stairs there is a cupboard at the top of the stairs, on arrival you look for any wardrobe space etc and I opened this cupboard door. It was filled with all sorts of rubbish. Now I would expect that cupboard door to be locked (as one was) or a sign clearly stating to keep out. I also thought this a little of a fire hazard. The bedrooms were ok and the bed was comfy enough as was our daughters room. They rooms didn't have much in them.
