Bay of Islands Cottages

We spend 2 nights here. It is lovely! Super beds with heating ( new to us and very nice) a large terrace outside where one sits and has a superb view into the bay and the oyster banks at low tide. A super breakfast as mentioned by many. All windows have fly protection, which is needed. The cottages sit in a lovely tropical garden, you can go on a path through it down to the water and there are kajaks available. The cottages are nicely furbished, have good wifi, what have I forgotten? Fully functional shower and bathroom with a window. 100% recommendation.

The location

Water pressure on shower, there’s no cooked breakfast anymore when it is advertised like that, there was a lot of mosquitoes inside the room Even though we were very careful.

The cottage is very cozy, with fragrant flowers at bedside, and birds chirping outside the veranda. Stephen next door always greeted us with nice suggestions for local sightseeing. He even gave us a bottle of home made honey to enjoy. We like the serenity of this coastal hideout.

There is mosquito around at this season, so some mosquito repellant would be helpful.

Position was fantastic. Relaxed ambience.

Very different to advertised Bay of Cottages. Cereal, fruit, yogurt and bread provided…no hot breakfast. Boat area unkept and not able to be used. A quick word from one owner - not seen again for the 2 days we were there. Wi-fi unreliable. Highly overpriced for service provided.

Peter & Jenny were brilliant hosts and it was great to have a chat when Peter brought up our breakfast every morning for us to eat on the sun filled deck. Our cottage was gorgeous with a deck out front overlooking a gorgeous tree filled garden with birdsong from dawn to dusk, and a view of the bay. We can't wait to get back and stay again.

We have never had such incredible breakfasts as we had staying here! A beautiful idyllic location set in native bush, with the sounds of kiwi and weka outside in the garden. Wonderful hosts who went the extra mile to make our stay comfortable.

Peter was extremely warm and welcoming, the accomodation had lots of lovely thoughtful touches such as freshly baked cookies, and the breakfast was amazing. Beautiful view from the accomodation. We had a wonderful time.
