"Great location but minor, easy fixes lets it down."

7.0

Location Security

No towels. Small second bedroom (nowhere to hang clothes) Blocked bath sink. Shower pressure poor. Whole complex needed good tidy up and weeding. Outdoor light on low wall on ALL the time, so thin blind on second bedroom ineffective. Front door lock problematic.

"Mostly oh dear..save your money"

2.0

Pros - Owner very quick to respond to messages days before we arrived. - Cottage set within walking distance/very close to shops, harbour etc. - Quiet location. - Double bedroom, acceptable. - Staff at the London (?) pub (across the road by Market Street car park) were friendly and welcoming. (We popped in there for a drink the day before we left). We booked a meal the following evening. The food and service was very good indeed, along with being value for money. (There's a couple of tables over looking the Bristol Channel).

Cons - Our journey was delayed due to issues on the m5. I sent a message to the owner - No response or check in to see if everything was okay/whether we needed anything... - Front door lock VERY fiddly to use. If needed to get out quick would be an issue. A fire hazard as no where else to escape from apart from windows. PARKING! -Owner told us 'plenty of parking on roads nearby..Untrue. - Parking on road exceptionally limited. We paid £30.00 for a week's pass (even thouhh only there from Saturday to Thursday morning); Otherwise £6.10 per day or get to car for 7am or 8am to move it from street or keep paying meter! BEWARE - When using Park and Pay App. I was nearly scammed for £39 when another company popped up. Luckily my bank quickly stepped in and stopped the transaction. I spoke with them to confirm not me. My debit card was then blocked/had to order another. Luckily I had my debit/Google wallet I could use plus my credit card which I usually keep for emergencies. - My partner spoke to someone staying at one of the other cottages. Their own apparently purchases a permit for people staying at the property to use.. - No scenic views. - Light(s) needed on in living area most of the time. (I recognise strict building regulations/structural changes to buildings are not allowed). - 'Courtyard' - What a joke..First and last impression BLAND and weeds growing at bottom. Poor use of area. Would be depressing to sit there for too long surrounded by bare beige/dirty walls - Like being in a prison cell! No view whatsoever from back. At the front a car park and 2 other cottages. - Very limited kitchen equipment. Not even a jug to do gravy in or potato peeler. (Yes we are people who take a pride in what we eat. Also rarely eat takeaways due to cost and dislike of taste etc. Plus my wonderful partner loves to cook). - Fridge freezer, quite small. Fridge door needs attention as doesn't shut properly.

"Lovely lovely watchet!"

7.0

Property is great location wise. Central for Watchet so easy to walk everywhere. Nice and quiet (apart from noisy neighbours but that can’t be helped!) house was well equipped

A couple of points I have raised with the owners direct but nothing terrible! Parking is tricky and if you are staying in market street then you’ll have to pay £6 per day. It was so busy we didn’t bother trying the side roads

The cottage location is convenient and close to public houses and cafes and the steam train station

Cleanliness could be improved, comments have been made in the guest book and it still hasn't been improved, it wasn't clear in the information that you had to use a public car park, also in the guest book there was comments about repairs that needed doing, but hadn't been done

"Great location"

8.0

This little cottage is one of a small row in a gated area near the harbour. There is lots of parking nearby, all free overnight but hourly fee during the day. Not an issue if you are out all day but either way is not expensive and does roll over to the next day. The cottage is clean and well equipped (good shower!). There is a file with really comprehensive information and helpful leaflets about the locality. It was ideal for us as a couple but would be a squeeze for four adults. There is a Co-op supermarket nearby and a good range of restaurants and takeaways in the town. Ideal situation. Very quiet at night and a nice comfy bed after a long day walking.

Bedding is provided but you have to bring your own towels which was a bit of a pain as we were flying down and picking up a hire car, so had to book hold luggage. It’s also not obvious in the property description on Booking.com. If we’d driven from home it would have not been a problem.
