Walnut Block Cottages

Excellent breakfast and coffee

The cottage faced a beautiful vineyard and old walnut trees with views of the mountains. The cottage was a perfect size and had everything we needed. Our host Helen provided breakfast and we were close to many wineries and restaurants.

The shower would run hot and cold. Everything else was superb.

The view was stunning

I loved this cottage. So quiet and relaxing and such a unique experience to be able to just walk around the vineyard. As others have said the little touches made a difference. Beautiful breakfast, lovely linen and heated bathroom floor. We will be back.

Unforgettable Vineyard Stay: Staying right in the middle of a working vineyard was truly special—one of the top memories from our four weeks in New Zealand. Out of all the places we will stay during our long trip through Ocenia and Asia, Walnut Block Cottages may have set the highest bar. Spacious, Comfortable, and Stylish: The cottage was not only cozy and beautifully designed, but also offered plenty of room for luggage and clothing, which made settling in easy and comfortable. Cozy Comforts & Thoughtful Touches: The heated bathroom floor was a standout luxury, especially on cooler mornings. Add to that the high-quality bed linens, a Nespresso machine, and a well-stocked kitchen perfect for cooking enthusiasts—it really felt like a home away from home. Welcome Goodies: We really appreciated the thoughtful extras—breakfast provisions, chocolates, and a bottle of their own Sauvignon Blanc. And the voucher for a wine bottle was a lovely bonus. Highly Recommended: This is one of those rare places we’d definitely recommend to others—and would absolutely love to return to someday.

The only thing we missed a bit was having a dishwasher—especially for those who enjoy cooking (which the kitchen is well set up for). Not a dealbreaker, because it is clear when you book it that it is not available, but something that would be a great addition. The cottages are a short drive from Blenheim, so having a car is necessary—but honestly, the peaceful location more than makes up for that.
