Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the lodge. From the moment we arrived things were bad. Just looking through the conservatory we could see how dirty the place was, the edges were full of dirt, there were cobwebs everywhere and upon closer inspection there were mouse or rat droppings on the window sill. The outer door does not lock or shut properly which makes the property unsafe and chilly, it also bangs all through the night if there is any wind. Once we got into the main cabin we were immediately hit with a stale, old smell and could see the true extent of how dirty the place was. Again, cobwebs, dirt on the floor, chocolate raisins on the floor. It was so bad I tried vacuuming, we lifted the rug and underneath was a white powder all over the floor. We looked under the beds as we were concerned given the state of the rest of the lodge and saw tissues, pasta, hair under there. The duvets smelt damp like they hadn’t been changed in a while. The cushions in the living room were greasy and so dirty that we put them in the conservatory. The kitchen area was dirty too - stains on the cupboards, the oven smelt so bad of grease that we couldn’t use it, the fridge was dirty. I messaged the owner who did apologise and sent the cleaner who came and tried to vacuum, clean the oven and wipe the conservatory surface down but honestly without spending hours (and probably renovating the place) there wasn’t much she could do to make the place better. We knew about the water situation before arriving so the colour wasn’t a problem but the kitchen sink would start off burning hot and then would be cold. The kettle was unclean inside so we didn’t use that and before using anything else (plates, microwave, cutlery etc) we cleaned it. Honestly, it really did put a damper on the whole weekend, we couldn’t settle in the lodge due to the uncleanliness. The wiring through out the whole place was questionable

Set on a remote location it’s perfect for for a retreat to Wales. The road up isn’t that steep, the property has all the basics you need. Great views from the top and friendly neighbours. Great value for money.

There were no toiletries which we sort of expected so take your own shower gel, shampoo, hand wash etc. The electricity meter did not need coins. The mattresses on the bunk bed could do with an upgrade if I have to point out a thing. Having said that it was a wonderful stay.
