Liquid Amber

How does one define the splendid beauty that is Liquid Amber? Does liquid gold work? This is a pure gem. Great location. Well thought out and arranged settings - ultra comfortable bed, crispy clean linens and perfect pillows. Let's talk about the shower... WOW! WOW! WOW! Enough said. It seldom gets better than this!

It's a very neat and beautiful room, the place is very good for group travelers not solo, as you can see the gate is closed by a hanging chain

When I noticed that I was alone at the property I became afraid, thinking of all bad things that can happen, I suggest that at least the gates must be lockable, the only thing that was locked was the sliding door of my room

Beautiful surroundings, comfortable bed and nice shower.

There was a single electric blanket on the double bed. There were no plates, bowls or cutlery. The caption on Booking.com said All the Comfort of Home, but we couldn't even slice some bread or heat our soup. When I asked the owner for some crockery and cutlery, she just replied that this was an en suite room. We had to go to Savemor to buy paper plates and plastic knives, forks and spoons. Absolutely minimal effort put into this place.

The shower and a very comfortable bed

The host has a very bad attitude and actually expects her guests to confirm with her whether she is ready for them! I did not feel welcome here and often wondered if she is the owner or just a manager "doing her job." There is a gate that is mostly stuck in the mud. You have to lift it up to move it. This gate is expected to be closed at all times. That is ridiculous, especially if you are one person, at night and while it rains. The unit is not serviced every day, which I do not mind that much, but I stepped wet grass into my unit, had to go in Search of the "cleaner", borrow her broom and she only collected the broom 2 days later. She did service the unit next door!!??? There is a wasp nest directly above the sliding door, and when I arrived, I had no less than 5 wasps inside the unit. I was advised to shoo them away with the flip file. I did receive insect spray and a wash basin with sunlight liquid later that afternoon, which was sweet. I am concerned about the brown water. There is no notice about this water, and since I was not pre warned, I had no drinkable water in the unit. There was a little left in the kettle from the previous guest, giving me an indication that it wasn't even cleaned. There is very little thought given to guest experience and comfort i am taking about attention to detail, basics like some ice in the freezer box. I could ignore all these "issues," as they do seem petty. However, the host really got to me, right from the very start with her entitled, arrogant, and "I am doing you a favor" attitude. The gate is an easy fix IF she cares enough! I will not book at Liquid Amber unless there is a change of management and definitely get that gate to swing open and shut instead of having to battle with bit. I left on Friday at 09:30, leaving the unit open and the key inside. I had no instructions about checking out procedure and have not heard from or seen the "host" since the Monday.

Great location close to restaurants and hiking routes. Clean and had everything you need for an overnight stay in Hogsback.

It is quite difficult to give a fair review for this property. The location is great and the setting of the little cottage in the garden is sweet. The communication with the manager was also good.

What made me give not a top rating is the overall condition of the inside of the cottage. Curtains have holes, bed linen is old - has stains, I had tiny insects running over my bedside table (which is maybe not easy to avoid in a garden cottage). All in all I had the feeling it’s not 100% clean.
