The cottage was lovely and in a great location. There is plenty of parking and the kitchen is well equipped. We were late for our check in due to traffic, but the host was accommodating for this. We had dinner at a nearby pub, The Oakley Arms which was lovely Would definitely consider staying here again 😊

"A lovely property in urgent need of care and attention"

6.0

It's a great location, the property is spacious with good parking. The beds are really comfortable and although quite close to the lane traffic noise isn't a problem. The host is lovely too. For the money it was OK.

The property is in urgent need of maintenance, deep cleaning, gardening and repair. During my stay the following issues were presented by the host or became apparent during the stay: Main bath was unusable and the plug removed due to flood damage caused by a previous guest. Hot top was badly damaged on the sink in the main bathroom, this was leaking back down the feedpipe and then pooling downstairs by the front door, the tap head itself was also damaged. (I ended up turning off the stop cock myself to prevent further issue) The remaining shower, (in the master bedroom en-suite) is damaged in several ways, the most urgent being that the tray/drain leaks badly. This leak comes out in the downstairs utility room above the back door/fridge and has clearly been present for months if not years due to the extensive rust on the RSJ above the door. The broadband connection was down, this wasn't too much of a problem as I was able to teather my phone to my laptop to carry on working - however mobile signal is flakey in the area. On the first morning the kitchen was overrun by ants and flying ants, I had to go out and buy ant/fly sprays & powder to control the problem. (I have left these there for future guests to use) Lots of fixtures and fittings are damaged, tiles are broken in the en-suite, the shower unit base (external) has damage too. The garden furniture is quite rotten, not all of it is load bearing. The front and rear gardens could really do with a big tidy up. The external woodwork is in poor order, particularly the softwood which is in dire need of cleaning/painting/staining.
