"Lovely cosy old cottage, in beautiful location"

9.0

The quiet and beautiful location, comfortable furniture, complete kitchen. A very cosy and lovely old cottage. Excellent showerpressure.

We found the beds a bit soft, with the springs in the matress sticking out.

"A great area to explore"

8.0

The cottage has been nicely decorated and had everything we needed. Oriel has provided some information and books about the local area. We enjoyed the walk from the cottage to the Naughty Stone - around an hour to an hour and a half, through scenic countryside. Pen y Fan and the four waterfall walk is within half an hour’s drive of the cottage. Sheep freely roam around the cottage and regularly pass the front door which entertained us. There are ponies in the field behind the cottage as well. The little pub just up the road has just opened - The Quarryman’s Arms - but it doesn’t open on Mondays or Tuesdays so we didn’t try it out. It looks nice though.

The quarry trucks thundering past were very noisy and didn’t add to our enjoyment. They don’t go right past the door though as the cottage is off the main road. When it’s grey and wet outside, the cottage is dark (small windows) and the little garden could do with some attention. But Oriel is clearly making an effort and we enjoyed our stay there.

"A COMFORTABLE, CHARACTERFUL, AND WELL-LOCATED COTTAGE"

9.0

A well-located, self-catering cottage that met our needs, including visiting old haunts in South Wales and attending a family event in the Gower. The accommodation is simple, compact, but well-furnished, comfortable, and practical - exactly as described in text and photos. And the host was excellent, both in terms of communication, and her interests in Chartism, local industrial history, and the area generally, which give the property a unique character. For this, we award her a 'gold' star! We'll definitely book it again, if/when we are in the area.

Nothing, really.

"Great views and location."

8.0

Nice views and location. Supplied with baked goods and essentials on arrival.

The wifi worked very intermittently which became very frustrating. The smart meter on display and signs regarding being energy efficient felt unnecessary. Photos outdated, much more wear and tear than shown. Stained furniture, outside paintwork weathered. Black dog hairs found from previous guest.
