Stylish and Comfortable Home Away From Home

The property is close to the city centre.

It is advertised as stylish and comfortable. To be honest it is none of those things. It is shabby. There are dirty marks on the walls and flaking paint. The window in the front bedroom is unsafe and opens out directly onto a pitched roof. The road itself is awful and the surrounding property very shabby. The next door neighbours were out in the road playing music till 1 a.m with crying children. There was no tea towels, spatulas in the kitchen, fans in the rooms (we stayed in 32 degree heat and we melted) and if there are cleaners that go in, the property must be empty for long periods of time because it certainly wasn’t clean when we checked in. Had a problem with the security deposit as I was requested to pay £250, though the listing originally mentioned only £100. After a little back and forth, when they said that Booking.com had not updated the required amount as they had technical problems, they agreed that we could pay £100. The amount has since updated. The property is listed as child friendly but there was no safety gate and the stairs are VERY steep. My 4 year old granddaughter fell down the stairs as she tripped at the top on a funny step. She was very lucky and was unharmed. We left the property in good order but they came back to us with photos of a stained sofa bed. None of us recall this stain and we went to great pains to keep the property in good order because of rhe deposit and because we are tidy, respectful people. After some discussion they decided to withhold ALL our deposit, didn’t even bother to obtain quotes for professional cleaning , just that we wouldn’t get it back. Surprise, surprise, can’t say I was shocked. I’d been expecting it as they weren’t happy that we paid only £100. I was very glad that I hadn’t paid the £250. Beware of this property and it’s owner!!
