"Stunning surroundings, tired accommodation"

6.0

The location was perfect,, close to the Story of Emily and Looe the two places we wanted to visit. The grounds were beautiful, stunning views across the woodland from the grounds. Very pretty and lovely to see so many Peacocks roaming around the ground, although they were noisy and woke us up at 4:20am, but they are birds protecting their home and so it is what it is. The cottage was cute and homely but in need of upgrading! There was plenty of parking, and a designated space in front of the cottage. Once we put the heaters on it was warm.

When we drove into the grounds it was so stunning and we had high expectations based on the surroundings, however we went to the Reception to check in, no-one was there to start with but the keys were laid out on the counter with names and booking reference I think. I rang the bell and a man came, he seemed inebriated to me, I could smell the alcohol on his breath. Anyway, he told us where to park and that was it. We easily found the cottage, parked in the designated space and went in. Although cosy and having a comfortable lounge area and kitchenette with everything we needed, it is in dire need of refurbishment. The bedroom was ok, a double and single bed made up ready. The shower room wasn't great, there was a lot of mould around the shower base, but the shower worked well and was hot. The shower curtain didn't fit well and water spilled underneath the curtain onto the floor. The curtains throughout were shabby and didn't glide well along the poles. We couldn't draw the curtains in the main lounge at all. With some redecoration and TLC the cottage would be lovely. It was well equipped but very very tired.

"It was okey"

7.0

I really liked the surroundings, they were pleasant and created a nice atmosphere.

It felt a bit different from how it looked in the photos, which was slightly disappointing.

"adequate"

7.0

nice kitchen area, comfy beds, loved the surrounding grounds and the peacocks

outside lighting needed as its very dark. Curtains tricky to draw. Shower sealant needs cleaning or replacing as looks mouldy but shower and tray were clean. The whole place is perfectly serviceable but is tired and could do with a bit of an update. except the new kitchen

"Quiet location surrounded by peacocks and forest"

7.0

Quiet.

It feels like someone (maybe hotel workers ) is living here but they use it as guest room too when workers are not there. The Linie etc. feels very private instead of being a hotel room. I was not sure if they were washed from last guests… I would not recommend it.
