Penddol Cottage & Boathouse

The house is beautiful and comfortable, and the location is stunning.

Stunning cottage right on the canal. Ideal location short walk to town centre, canal and river Dee. There were 11 of us staying plenty of room with 3 living areas (including annex) plus large kitchen and dining area. We also enjoyed the hot tub. Lovely waking up to views of the barge boats going past. Was a very relaxing and peaceful stay.

We found it perfect and met all our needs.

Absolutely beautiful cottage, right on the edge of the canal. Really clean, wonderfully comfortable beds. Beautiful furnished with high spec kitchens and furnishings. Parking for 3 cars. Everyone had best night's sleep. Peaceful location but very close to town. And fabulous 6 seater hot tub. A real home from home and the host was superb .

Rooms fantastic and whole house clean

A great property that was perfect for our family. The extra en-suite that has just been installed in the main bedroom meant there’s now an additional bathroom in the main house which was great for us. Was beautifully clean and we loved the little welcome pack on arrival. We loved the charm of the place and the location of the house was perfect. Would love to stay here again. Would highly recommend for a family stay.

The cottage is absolutely beautiful. It's tastefully decorated and has quality appliances. The garden and views are obviously stunning. Its location is great - just across the canal bridge from the Llangollen Pavillion car park, which is ideal for taxis etc. A short walk from the town centre and ideally situated for canal walks in either direction.

We could have done with another WC in the main house.

Where the property was situated. The welcome gifts were very nice. The place was mainly clean and smelt nice when first entering the property.

This is our second visit to the cottage within 2 years. On this occasion we noticed a lot of things need to be put right. As we were entering the annex we noticed the front door latch was broken we were also greeted by the stains on the sofa which didn’t look very pleasant. There was a hole in the ceiling upstairs where spiders could enter, the bed squeaked every time you moved. You woke each other up when you needed to go to the toilet in the night. Also there was no mirror except a small one which was no use at all. The fire escape door was also sealed shut which didn’t make you feel safe. In the main house there wasn’t a lock on the bathroom door (it was like that last year) and with a family of adults and children it meant there was no privacy especially with it being the only toilet in the building for 8 people. Most of the upstairs windows wouldn’t close which was a concern in then the children’s bedroom and the downstairs windows were locked shut. There were cobwebs on the ceilings and walls downstairs. The first aid kit only had a pair of scissors in it. The door was fitted with mortice locks, (main exit doors should be fitted with thumb turn locks for a quick escape) if there was a fire we couldn’t have got out because the windows were locked. Outside there was a broken slab by the seating area which my daughter nearly fell off the garden chair with. The outside seating area wasn’t great to be honest as the furniture cushions were soaking wet. To be honest I would have expected a lot better for £450 per night. It seems like the property isn’t being reinvested in through the year. I have attached some photographs but I have more if needed.

Location, style, cosiness. Well equipped. Convenient to amenities..

One of the ovens in the SMEG not working none of the oven trays would fit in to the only oven working. This oven was very dirty. The oven in the annexe was working but we needed both ovens when cooking for a large party. Toilet cistern in the main house is faulty - continuous flushing in the early hours. Shower curtain in annexe needs attention. Window in main bathroom doesn’t shut. The pathway to the annexe would benefit greatly from a sensor activated light. It is very dark and dangerous.

Both the cottage and location are amazing. Beautifully furnished. Fantastic for a family get together. Owner and staff are really friendly. Would definitely stay again. Lovely welcome basket of goodies on arrival.
