The Lakehouse

Great place to switch off, absolute privacy in the middle of a beautiful countryside. The landlord is super kind, welcoming and just WhatsApp away if anything needed. Place to return to, we can’t wait to experience it in the summertime. Dartmoor national park with great trails around the corner, loads of great pubs with delicious menus around. Highly recommended.

Nice and secluded place. Owner's kindness. Great home-distilled gin with a pepper flavour. Free use of a buggy quite useful to cross wet meadows.

The price is very high (356 £ per night). So we expected a very very special place and it wasn't, even if "the Lakehouse" is a quite nice and peaceful and secluded place. But should you be last minute customer, dont't hesitate to call the owner and negociate a good deal !

The location is separate from the main house, via a ford, across a field and down into some trees. At first sight we were not sure what we were getting into, especially with a cold, grey drizzle falling. However, we were greeted by the extremely friendly Andy who took us and our luggage down to the Lake House in the petrol buggy, which we then had use of. The property is right on a small, clean freshwater lake, with decking over the water, outdoor BBQ and table grill. In the summer the lake and outdoor hot tub would be perfect. The kitchen/main sitting area was cleaned well equipped, with a great log burner. The bedroom was warm, with a very comfortable bed with a great Egyptian cotton duvet and some terrific retro touches around the room. Richard, the host could not have been more accommodating. A pleasure to talk to, and very helpful, he sets the ethos of the Lake House, and his own house, to very "friendly and engaging".

The well equipped bathroom could have been warmer, which Richard took on board.

The most incredible stay. Everything was perfect and Richard is an exceptional host. It really is the most special location and I will definitely be returning. Richard did everything he could to make it special and was very quick to respond to me.

Richard was an excellent host and goes above & beyond to make sure you have a good stay. The Lakehouse Gin was a lovely touch. The Lakehouse itself was idyllic and calming. It was the perfect stay for a couple who needed a break from work and a place to just chill.

A landscape fit for a dream! Beautiful scenery, peaceful atmosphere, great for dogs and humans alike! My new favourite getaway destination!

Everything was perfect

We loved the attentiveness of Richard , he was an absolutely brilliant host. The lakehouse itself was stunning, the peace and quiet was ideal.

The property is located away from the other buildings on the land so was secluded and peaceful. The private lake in front of the property created a fantastic setting. Property itself inside was kitted out well, comfy and cosy throughout the stay. Richard was on hand and just a phone call away if we ever needed anything and felt looked after all trip.

Honestly nothing.. This booking covered exactly what we were looking for and does feel like a special treat that is difficult to find.
