I can’t say enough this property was fantastic. Comfy bed, full kitchen. The views were awesome. So laid back. I enjoyed reading on the deck & seeing the ocean. We are already looking to rebook.

Needs a little bit of updates.

Our 5 day long stay at Donovan’s Reef was good! The house was cuter in person than in pictures and the location can’t be beat. You can see the ocean from the front porch and can walk to it in less than 2 minutes. It does have central air which is awesome considering many of the surrounding homes do not. There is a nearly brand new washer and dryer at the home as well. It was an overall good value for the price.

Some things can be improved upon. The linens are old and worn, a couple of the towels had holes and need to be replaced. Some paint is peeling in the bathrooms and both bathrooms could use a hand towel holder. The beds are very firm and uncomfortable; I knew this when booking from previous reviews so we planned ahead and brought mattress pads for each bed to help with that. The pillows are all worn and flat and could use replacements.

The check-in process is terrible or rather non-existing. We arrived 20 minutes early, sent a text message to the property owner asking if we could checkin a little early. I got a reply saying it had to be at 3pm due to cleaning, which is fine. It’s 3 pm when we arrived at the property but no one was there to meet us like it was stated in the Booking.com app. We were with 3 children outside without any messages thru email or the app with instructions on how to get in. Sent another text message to the owner with no replies. Had to call Booking.com customer service twice so they could try to contact the owner which after a couple of tries they got it because I received a phone call from the owner 1 hour after checking time in a very aggravated and aggressive tone of voice saying that she sent a message via booking.com telling the location of the keys. But again I have not received any message thru any channel. Next day she texts me back apologizing for “any miscommunication” and that she just got out of the hospital. I’m sorry for that and I hope everything’s fine, but that’s not the way to welcome guests during checkin. There are simpler and more effective ways for that. Also not enough dish soap to fulfill required cleaning tasks and toilet paper. Beds also not that comfortable.

Location was fantastic! Right across from beach access and easily accessible to anything we needed.

The front bedroom could use a little TLC. The mattress has seen better days, it dips to the middle and squeaks/pops with the slightest movement. The headboard isn’t attached so we had to keep a sock between the wall and headboard to keep it from scaring us in our sleep. The ceiling fan is missing the pull cord for the light so we had to depend on the lamp on the other side of the bed. Book in the living room needs to be updated, we were told $125 for pet fee and the book says $100. Had to call owner when we got there to find out how to get into property, pre instructions said someone would meet us to let us in and receive pet fee. That wasn’t the case and we had to leave the cash pet fee there when we checked out and pray it made it into the right hands.

The location was great. Kitchen was well equipped. The owner was very prompt with answering any questions.
