The Black House with Stunning Outdoor Bath

Property was very clean and comfortable. It had a wonderful view and was within walking distance of the lake and the shops and restaurants. It was very quiet and private. Loved the outside space and the outside bath. It had everything we needed to self cater. The house is more beautiful than you expect from the photos. Wonderful owners that were very responsive and give clear instructions to find the property. Just wished we could have stayed longer. It was fabulous.

This is a beautifully styled, cosy property with a well equipped kitchen and gorgeous outdoor bath. Simon and Kathy are wonderful, helpful hosts who definitely go above and beyond!

Loved everything

We absolutely loved our stay at the Beech House! The property was stunning, with a gorgeous view of Lake Tekapo and a lovely outdoor bath, which was great to wind down in after a busy day hiking. All of the facilities were great, and we had everything we could need.

We did struggle to find the property initially, but once we got our bearings it was fine. Other than that, there was nothing we had an issue with or didn't like!

Private and gorgeous. Everything worked perfectly. Host Simon made great recommendations for activities and restaurants-including overlook to Mount John. Beautiful lake and mountains. Grounds of the cabin well maintained with blooming flowers everywhere. Lots to do and see. Wonderful stay and highly recommend.

Loved everything.

Experience the best accommodation, the room is spacious and luxurious, you can lie down and watch the stars, and there is an outdoor bathtub. Complete facilities and strategic location. Luckily we met the owner of the house on our last day. he was very enthusiastic and recommended us to nearby specialty restaurants and beautiful scenery. I will definitely stay here again when I come to New Zealand next year. Unfortunately my English is not good enough. I hope next year my English will improve and I can chat more with the owners of the house.

One of our favourite stays on a 3 week trip around the South Island! If anything the photos don’t do it justice. Peaceful and private with plenty of space and beautifully clean. We loved having BBQs on the terrace. The master bedroom was exquisite with a view onto the patio and the outdoor bath surrounded by fragrant lupins. The upstairs bedrooms were kept nicely cool by fans in the hot weather we were lucky to have. We all slept brilliantly in the big comfy beds. Laundry facilities were an added bonus for us, neatly tucked away behind sliding doors in the master - very convenient.

This is the ideal location for Tekapo. Comfortable, light, airy and very private.
