The Folly

The owners provided everything for breakfast. The location was beautiful.

I STRONGLY ADVISE ANYONE NOT TO BOOK THE FOLLY DURING THE WINTER MONTHS FOR BOTH FINANCIAL AND SAFETY REASONS, although I can see that it would be idyllic in the summer months, and also in the winter as long as power to the property was guaranteed. I had booked a 2-night stay. The first night was fine, but mid-morning the following morning there was a power cut. I went out for the day, and when I got back in the evening the power had still not been restored, so I had no alternative but to look for other accommodation. When I booked The Folly, I was aware of their cancellation policy, but I pointed out to the owners that I did NOT cancel, but had no option but to leave for safety reasons. It was stressful trying to find accommodation at such short notice, and then there was a horrible drive there in the dark, wind and rain, battling the ravages of Storm Darragh with several branches fallen onto the road. I had to pack up in the pitch dark, but the owners did not come to help me or check that I was alright - although I guess that such human concern does not come in their terms and conditions. Fortunately I arrived at my accommodation safely. It seems that power outages are a common occurence in that area, so it would make sense if the owners provided a 'survival kit', eg a primus stove and a gas heater. There were some tea lights in a drawer, but I don't remember seeing any matches. In spite of the extreme and unprecedented weather conditions, the owners were completely intransigent on their cancellation policy. They may have pocketed my money, but I would gently point out to them that human kindness, compassion and understanding are absolutely free.

Property was clean, amazing views and location. Hot tub was amazing in the morning and at night with the view! Thank you to the team for an amazing stay

Superb location with fantastic views. The homely touches of breakfast provisions and flowers were really nice. Comfortable stay.

The location is fantastic and the view superb! The hot tub was a real treat - and it was a proper solid one, not the inflatable one in the pics. Sitting on the veranda, sipping a whisky in an evening with warmth and lighting from the fire pit was delightful. There are at least 4 excellent pubs near by and Petersfield is definately worth a visit when the market is on.

gorgeous gorgeous view, exactly as shown in photos. lots of amazing bird life to observe. the place itself is even nicer than it looks in the pics imo and is generously and tastefully stocked. perfect to enjoy the view if the weather isn’t good enough to be on the deck

overlooked by main house with lots of light pollution despite hosts stressing the low light pollution. hosts were fairly poor communicators both before, during and after the stay, and honestly for me were not the friendliest people, but the place does the talking!
