Sunny House with 5 Bedrooms(near airport)

If we could assign a 0-star rating, we certainly would. Our recent stay at Sunny House with 5 Bedrooms, a property listed on Booking.com, was a profoundly disappointing experience that compelled us to share our concerns. Our intention is to offer potential guests an honest perspective as they consider their options. From the onset, it was apparent that the aging features and nonfunctional appliances were noticeable. However, these concerns pale in comparison to the genuine safety hazards we encountered. A significant electricity problem emerged, jeopardizing the safety of our family members, particularly the children and elderly individuals. Shortly after our check-in, the house's smoke detector was triggered when we turned on a few heaters. While we initially dismissed it as a false alarm, the smoke detector sounded again shortly thereafter. Our suspicion turned to the heaters, prompting us to switch them off. Despite this, the emission of smoke, a burnt odor and sparks from the electrical distribution board came when we utilized other kitchen appliances. In the face of potential fire or explosion, we promptly reached out to the owner. In response to our report, the owner did make an appearance to address the situation. Her response seemed lacking in empathy, and she attempted to shift the blame onto us, insinuating that our use of multiple heaters had caused the issue. This assertion, however, contradicted the reality of the situation, as it was a freezing winter evening and we had merely activated a few heaters. She also suggested that a refund for the first night would only be possible if we vacated the premises immediately. This stance was particularly distressing considering the time of day, the freezing weather, and the presence of vulnerable family members. While an electrician was eventually dispatched, the issue remained unresolved until past midnight, leading us to opt to stay for the first night.

The lounge was comfortable and well set up. The house was warm.

The beds were hard and uncomfortable. There was a washing machine but no powder, had to buy some.

The house was comfortable and larger enough for our extended family. It was clean and had a good kitchen set up.

There was no rubbish bin and the outdoor bin was over flowing when we arrived. Some of the heaters in the house didn't work. We were left with 1 dishcloth and 1 tea towel, it would have been good to have an extra. The host was not contactable. We called and text and got no response

the size of the home was great for our family. location was great to get around the city with ease.

when we arrived there was a very strong smell of curry throughout the home which was still around on the day we left. when we arrived all the trees were cut down from the original pictures of the home in the booking and left on the property.

The house location and size are superb

We had a rather cold day in Christchurch and some of the heaters don't work. As is an old house the rooms got really cold overnight.

Good living area, fenced section good for the kids, heaps of beds and bedrooms.
