Dream Getaway-Secluded Hot Spa-Walk to Village-Walk to Pineknot Trailhead-Plus King Bed!

We really liked the location. It was close to a great hiking trailhead and close to town. The home was very clean and the kitchen had everything you could want in a rental. The beds were very comfortable and there were many choices of streaming services to watch if you wanted to use them.

The host himself ruined the trip for us. First of all he texted and told us he left the back slider open and so we were in the house and all of a sudden he busted in the door and completely startled my 75 year old mom who has a heart condition & I. There was no friendly greeting instead he ordered us to take a seat and the third degree began. He asked extremely personal and invasive questions that had nothing to do with our renting the home. He then proceeded to spend several minutes telling us how we were staying in the #1 home in Big Bear and how he was the #1 realtor in Big Bear and also made us sit through a sales pitch of all his other homes he has available in other cities. He was very pushy and he really made us very uncomfortable with his inappropriate personal questions. He then told us about the Big Bear Good Neighbor Policy, but he was so extreme even telling us if we sat on the porch during the day and were talking in a normal voice if they could hear us we would be fined $500.00. He treated us as if we were 20 year olds there to party. He took all the joy out of our trip, and we really lost our sense of any security after our interaction with him. He has a code on the front door with no ability to lock the house from the inside so in effect he can come and go whenever he feels like it. Mind you I have stayed in Big Bear many times and have never experienced anything like this check in. The deck of this house is nothing like the pictures shown. It is literally falling apart and doesn't even look safe. The stairs are unsafe as well, it is only a matter of time before someone falls through. One must also be careful when using the spa because those stairs move when you go to get out and I actually caught my toe in between the spa and stairs. Also know this is his home so all his stuff is in the house which leaves little room for your things in the closets or drawers. I was also told by him to only leave a 10 star review or don't post a review.

The Spa #1 was very relaxing where it is located in the trees. The kitchen was fully stocked with utensils so I was able to cook a steak and lobster dinner while I was there. The trees and more trees were awesome, felt secluded even though there were neighbors. Couch and bed were very comfortable. BBQ cooked phenominally.

The location can't be beat. It is about a 4 minute drive to the Village of Big Bear Lake. The cabin has everything provided that anyone could need from a washer/dryer to a generously stocked kitchen. There were lots of towels for the bathroom and to use in the spa outside. Truly everything needed was there from extra pillows and blankets (that we actually needed because it does get super cool in the mornings) to tons of pots, plans and dishes in the kitchen. Having the tablet in the kitchen was wonderful so we could listen to music inside with the ease of saying "hey Google". The wrap-around porch is such a treat as we were able to birdwatch on one side or chat, nap, and chill on the other side.

The owner was very knowledgeable about the area, but checking in took too long on a very hot day in Big Bear. Big Bear Lake has a "friendly neighbors" policy where no noise is allowed outside of the cabin from 10pm until 8am. The rules of Big Bear Lake are now so stringent that I have chosen my next vacation in October in Arrowhead, where I hope there's a little flexibility. Don't get me wrong, I love the quiet, but wanting to stargaze off of that amazing porch after 10 at night on a Saturday should be okay without worrying that we might laugh and get in trouble. I think if you're a quiet group looking for a quiet getaway, this is a perfect place for you.
