Country Retreat

Beautiful house in a great setting. Looked exactly as the pictures on the site. Facilities were everything we needed. Loved our stay.

Good location, quiet and peaceful. About 20 mins walk from the station. Great walks directly from the property. Local shops supplied our needs and the cafe was great.

It could sleep 3, but some things like the breakfast bar was for 2.

We loved it! It‘s cosy, equipped with everything we needed. The house is also a great starting for wonderful hikes in the Peak District. We‘ll definitely be back!

The location of the property was good. We could access great walks from the property and to Chinley

The property was filthy and needs a deep clean. The bathroom was the only clean area in the property. The owners offered to come and clean it or a deduction in the price of the stay. My wife had already begun to clean the property so we accepted the deduction. The lounge was uncomfortable, there was a tiny fire which looked unused and difficult to operate. There was no table to sit round and eat on. I would not consider staying there again

Personally and probably purely a personal view, we have been so used to a superking bed, the standard double felt tiny, the mattress seemed to drop near the edge making It seem smaller than it was. Whilst I am not about to slate the accommodation (there was a constantly dripping tap in the kitchen (very minor and you cannot fix if you do not know about it) and the industrial area across the road is noisy in the mornings (you can’t do nothing about this either). We did leave one night early as I was unable to gain a good nights sleep though my wife wasn’t affected like I was.. would I reccomend.. yes

Fab location, lovely and clean, comfortable for 3 adults, lovely kitchen with plenty of equipment inc coffee & tea, bath towels, tea towels etc, friendly neighbours. Close (just up the hill) to 2 fab pubs with excellent food, and also more facilities in the village or nearby Whaley bridge (inc supermarket). Despite some initial concerns, to reassure others, there is no noise or disruption from the works opposite.

There is nothing really negative, however with the weather less good (typical British weather!) we stayed in more in the evenings and found that sitting on the accent chair for long periods was not too comfy, an armchair would be better. The beds were comfortable and warm bedding, however if you are 6ft or over they are not really long enough - or would benefit from not having a bed-end as hubby had to crumple up to sleep. The single room could do with a single tallboy so you can hang clothes and a mirror. Maybe a third stool for the kitchen - even if it was without a back that tucked away when not in use.

Location great for walks - kitchen had oil in it and ketchup.

Shower was a bit hard to work out.
