Villa Azzurra Genova Resort

The apartment is tucked away in a central part of the city, with its own little garden, making it feel like an oasis of calm. It was spacious and clean, with good quality bathroom fittings. The host, Laura, was very helpful and provided useful suggestions for restaurants and places to visit. We were grateful that she allowed us to leave our car on the parking spot for a few hours after checkout.

This apartment is not for everyone, but has its own charm. The decor is quirky and a little tired in places with unusual fittings, such as what seemed to be an empty aquarium and sliding panels from a commercial display. The gas hob was not fully functioning, with some rings not staying lit. There was a slightly musty smell in the sitting room and bedroom. It is certainly not a “deluxe” apartment and the term “resort” is misleading.

Laura is a very nice host with a friendly dog. We had the studio apartment which has lots of rooms and some private outside space. The location is quite close to the bus and train stations.

The property is listed with a high rating and quoted as being a ‘luxury’ apartment and is called a ‘resort’ which is not correct in my opinion, but may be a problem with translation. It is old fashioned and basic, do read the earlier reviews, they are very mixed. Parking is very tight and you have to pay €8 per wash to use the washing machine if you stay less than 3 days.

This place was almost impossible to find. We eventually managed to find the hosts who gave directions. The access is through a parking garage and the walk to the rooms was long and steep, considering the luggage. The parking was too small for the minibus, and we had to park some distance away.

A family of four, kids aged 11 and 8 stayed here for three nights. Great cooking facilities, with local supermarkets just next door for cooking great Italian food, location is perfect and the host laura is wonderful. Love this place, and eating outside on the terrace was really perfect with young kids. Thanks again and would certainly come back. And my kids loved the dog.

Centrally located and dog friendly

It’s basically the garden shed of an old house. No windows in the room, not too much privacy as only a curtain prevented other people from the other rooms to look in. Smelled a bit moldy and was quite dark.
