Casa La Terrazza

The residents is suited in a beautiful picturesque village with nice people. The views from the terrace was like the picture. The host was very helpful and he responded directly to all of our requests. The house had a lovely decoration, had everything you needed, was comfortable and very clean. The kitchen was fully equipped. There was always hot water. In general the house was even better than its pictures.

Nothing. Everything was perfect.

The place is spacious, the kitchen is top, and the view from the terrace is amazing. Marco is an excellent host, we immediately felt comfortable and he was very helpful and reachable throughout our stay. The house is located in Dragonea, a village in the hills above Vietri. If you don't have a car you will have to take bus 1 or 69 to go down. Bus 1 also takes you to Salerno. To go to Napoli you can take a train in Vietri (1h30). Busses also leave from Vietri to Amalfi. There is an excellent fish restaurant (La Fattoria) in the village and some small grocery stores where you can find everything you need.

Temperature

We have just returned from a fabulous stay at Casa La Terrazza at the end of August. We stayed for 9 nights and honestly didn't want to go back home. The house itself is lovely, beautifully decorated (you don't expect anything else from Italy, do you?) and spacious enough for 4 adults and a child. A charming kitchen, full of Vietrence ceramics, is calling for you to try to prepare some of the fantastic food you have just tried on your holiday. The highlight, of course, is a large terrace with breathtaking views over the mountains and the town of Cava further down the valley. The terrace is facing North, which means that even on the balmiest of the afternoons, some shade is always available to enjoy. The hosts will also put a sun sail out to make it even more pleasant. The house itself, situated on the hillside and facing North, doesn't not suffer from the summer heat. The are are fans in every room but we never once turned them on. It was remarkable how pleasant it was inside, in the heat of August, during both day and night. It's not a particularly modern house, but so well built, like they used to in the olden days. Three cheers to the village, Dragonea, where Casa La Terrazza is situated. It lies in the hills above Vietri Sul Mare, a short 10 minute drive from it. The village is small, but it has got everything you need: two minimarkets (with very reasonable prices I must add), a greengrocer, a pharmacy, a bar (does it ever close?), a pizzeria that is open in the evening, and two restaurants - both very good and reasonably priced - a mere 5-10 minute walk from Casa La Terrazza. And even if you don't drive, a fast, cheap and reliable direct bus connection is available to Vietri itself and Salerno further afield.

We should have stayed even longer!!

The house itself is really nice and spacious. The garden is super nice. We had coffee, juice and milk waiting for us in the fridge which was very thoughful.

It takes some 30mins to walk to the beach down hill. However, going up would take at least 1.5h. The bus connections are horrible so you will spend much time waiting for the bus. If you stay at the beach you will hardy have any time to see Vietri as you will need to wait for the bus. The cost of the taxi to reach the property from Vietry is 20 eur (the property osner asked 30 eur). The electricity inlets are Italian so a regular laptop charger will not work. The breakfast is just a few sweet snacks which is not real breakfast at all. A box of eggs and some normal bread with a pack of cheese would be super nice.
