Cottage on the Beach

The view

This is NOT a cottage on the beach, 64 steps before the lift to reach apartment and 64 + 123 to reach beach. Shower in one ensuite not working or fixed in 10 days. Kitchen lacked utensils + only 3 cups between 4 people. Also only 3 towels + no cleaning or change of linen or towels over the 10 days. Bbq looks like not cleaned for years. Could do with comfortable seating. Safe not working a guests fault apparently. Toilet seat held together by tape!

Location was great! Shower great! Close to good options

Wifi was weak, easily locked out, parking very tight and had to pay extra ($20/day)

This property is in a perfect location, overlooking Mazzaro beach. The cottage is spacious, with funky lighting, with some interesting features, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a brilliant balcony with table and chairs, and a drying rack for clothes, spectacular views of the headlands and beach. As it is high up, it is quiet, and the traffic noise is distant at most. Timber floors, large kitchen with most cooking requirements. Aircon is in the living room. There is also a private space out the back, with a large table and several outdoor chairs. Good for evening meals if you are staying in. The property is very close to the funicular to Taormina (although unfortunately it wasn't running during our stay due to maintenance, and we had to take the bus up to town - not nearly as much fun!).

There was no room for side tables or lighting at the bedside. So if you want a glass of water you'll have to get out of bed, or risk putting it on the floor. There are a few steps to get up to the car parking place and lift which goes to the 3rd floor. Clear instructions as to what to do with the keys if you leave your car past check-out time (which is permitted, if you want to have breakfast, for example) would be appreciated. "Make sure that housekeeping can come upstairs for cleaning" means not only remove all your things from the apartment, but also leave the keys in the box for the cleaner. This was not made clear to us until we had taken all keys with us to breakfast. I do not understand why the owner was unable to let the cleaner in, as she had let workmen in on the two previous days of our stay to do electrical and structural work (which we did not complain about). It would help to have towel racks in the spacious bathrooms and a soap dish in the shower. Lots of stairs to access the beach - but that is the same for most properties on or near the road. And you need steps if you have a spectacular view. Otherwise the cottage was brilliant. Highly recommended.

Great location and nice views from the balcony. Very easy to walk down to the beach or catch the bus up to Taormina (the gondola was under maintenance during our stay). The bathrooms had in-built radios which was weird but cool. Easy to deal with the host.

Parking cost €20 per day. No soap, no bedding for the third mattress (but supplied on request) and quite cramped in the living area with a huge wooden cot. The lights in one bathroom didn’t work. Showers weren’t very clean.

The location was great and exactly what we were looking for. Fantastic view, nice garden and terrace. Gio was beyond helpful and kind to answer all our questions. She cares about her guests, which we really appreciated.

The couch is not the most comfortable we have seen so we didn´t use it. The kitchen could do with a bit more equipment, like a peeler and scissors. Unfortunately the Wifi was quite slow, but it is being looked into we believe.

Convinient place for visiting places around nice interior.

Contactless check-in, but the owner helped in everything we asked via messages. The apartment is fully equipped, new-built, but the best thing we will never forget: the view from every windows is absolutely stunning. Would recommend 100%!
