Cottage on the Beach

The view, the location and the three terraces. The showers were both decent and plentiful hot water for two.Clean. spacious living areas given small size overall.

The host needs to spend a few days there to appreciate all the issues. Had to chase host for checkin details. Zero property/location info inside. No second set of keys & power fob not detachable so if one person went out the other would have no power.

Location is fantastic

The property has been let go since the images were taken on the listing. The back patio no longer has a garden. Limited wine glasses and a few minor issues.

This is a third floor apartment with a very shabby unkempt lawn out the back not a cottage. The owner was curt and very unhelpful. The advertised wifi was public and unsecured. The apartment was shabby with paper peeling off the bathroom wall and a broken unusable shower screen. There were no instructions re any facilities eg the washing machine. There were thousands of light switches but no bedside light, table or power points. The kitchen ware was generally in poor condition with chips and unmatching which wouldn’t have mattered but on top of all the other very disappointing aspects of this property made for a less than satisfactory stay. There wasn’t even a bottle of water in the fridge which we have had at all other stays. Its only saving grace was the beautiful view of the bay and location near the beach and the cable car into town.

Location is amazing with amazing view. Close to beach, being 1 street away, and a quick stroll from shops and Gondala.

The place and view were really nice. It has parking, which is a bit narrow. It’s close to the Isola Bella beach and the cable car.

There weren’t enough towels for all of us. The mattress in the living room was dirty. The glasses and dishes were dirty. There were missing am amenities like the barbecue and the hair dryers were not working.

Beautiful apartment, very well located above Mazzaro beach. Easy to go to central Taormina with the cable car or the bus, and bus stops to other destinations just below the apartment. Close to Isola Bella, and several restaurants close by. The apartment is beautifully and tastefully decorated, with oil paintings, handpainted cupboards, unique decorations, artful mosaics, etc. Each room has a large or small balcony/terrasse. The large terrasse is perfect for breakfast during spring, and the garden would probably be perfect during the summer, but was a bit too cold during our stay in March. We especially liked the kitchen, which was cosy and fully equipped and meant to be used, unlike many brand new sterile kitchens in other rental apartments. During our stay, the cable car up to Taormina was being renovated, but the substitution bus was reliable and frequent.

Because of the (fantastic) mountains that Taormina is built on, the apartment requires a climb up the stairs to the sixth floor, or att least up to a level corresponding to the third floor, from where you can take an elevator. It was also a bit of a hassle when one person would leave, since another person then would have to climb all the way down the stairs to open the front gate, since there was only one gate key. The living room sofa could have been changed to a bed sofa, instead of having the fifth person in the company sleep in a metal foldable bed. We also missed a TV in the living room, for tired children in the evening.

Attractive location, beautiful sunrise from the bedrooms, nice apartement! The check-in and check-out was contactless, the owner instructed us on WhatsApp.
