100 years old traditional Kyoto Machiya townhouse - K's Villa

Loved the tradition feel of the space. We traveled with my son and the upstairs space for us was large and he had his own closed off space. Bedding was very comfortable but my husband disliked the very steep stairs. We didn’t use the kitchen it is available and fully stocked. On a quiet street but quick access to trains and restaurants.

Nothing to do another this but I do wish we could have reserved the unit facing the river. Unit was cold downstairs in the morning but the little heat couldn’t fix.

Eine wirklich unfassbar schöne Unterkunft. Die Lage war hervorragend, etwa 15 Minuten Fußweg vom Kyoto Hauptbahnhof entfernt. Wir wurden persönlich von K's Backpacker House zur Machiya begleitet und uns wurde alles gezeigt. Das Haus war perfekt sauber und gepflegt, in der Küche war alles da was man gebraucht hätte zum kochen auch wenn wir es nicht genutzt haben. Die Toiletten waren modern und ebenfalls sauber. Der Ausblick auf den Kamo-gawa war unvergleichlich und man wollte das Haus eigentlich gar nicht verlassen. Es war genügend Platz für 4 Personen. Man merkt dem Haus sein Alter an und dennoch war alles so gepflegt und ästhetisch schön, ich würde es jederzeit wieder buchen. Schönes Detail war der Plattenspieler im oberen Stockwerk. Vielen Dank für diesen tollen Aufenthalt!

Minimales Manko: Das Eiswürfelfach im Kühlschrank war schmutzig.

Loved the authentic atmosphere. Homely and Japanese

This house was superb! The host (Yuki) was so friendly, meeting us and guiding us around the features of this beautiful, traditional Japanese house. It was clean and comfortable with a gorgeous view over the river. Everything in the house was clearly labelled, with extra toothbrushes and hygiene requirements and use of free traditional gowns. It was quiet, but super convenient location to the train line (only 3 stops to centre town), and two convenient stores around the corner for supplies! We also loved riding the bikes up and down the river into town.

All good!! (Perhaps a more efficient coffee grinder?)

* Complicated coffee making set up * Not a single full length mirror * Sleeps 6 people but, due to configuration of beds and rooms, is NOT suitable for 3 COUPLES.

I was absolutely blown away by how beautiful this house looked from both outside and inside. The staff was very helpful and ready to assist with any difficulties. The guest house is in the residential area of Kyoto which made the whole experience even more immersive. There is everything you'd need for your trip around Kyoto, including the washer and dryer. Additionally, the price is very fair for what you get - I will definitely come back here!

As I arrived I was informed by staff that the boiler does not work properly and there is only hot water available. This was quite a hassle especially since my stay was in summer. However, I'm sure that this will be fixed as soon as possible.

The location

I built our whole holiday around the only 2 night’s accommodation I could get at the tea house as it came highly recommend. We also stayed at another tea house which was the whole house not half like the k villas. I was very disappointed. Most of the fixtures were new not in the style of the villa at all. I thought the villa over looked the river. That villa was the other half of the house. I’m sorry we didn’t like our accommodation but it was not what I thought we were getting. I was really looking forward to staying there as I booked it along time ago.
