Umenoki an Machiya House

Beautiful and close to everything. Quaint and the canal water was so peaceful. Free tea and coffee was nice.

Be careful of cars if you have kids. The bathroom and the water closet are at opposite ends of the house. There are some steps to take within the house so not really recommended for older people. The noise can be heard through the wall and door - the walls are very very thin so it can get a bit loud at night with hearing people talking or a car passing by.

An absolute gem on a beautiful little street in Higashiyama. If you are looking for a traditional-style house in a fabulous part of Kyoto then look no further. We had a wonderful time staying here.

Büro zum Einchecken ist schwer zu finden. Gepäcktransport zur Unterkunft muss extra bezahlt werden, obwohl die Unterkunft insgesamt eher hochpreisig ist.

modern renovated home that still giving traditional japanese wooden machiya vibes. Very well furnished especially the provision of kitchen wares and utensils that we could make good use with cooking a decent asian dinner. Glass sliding door seeing through court yard from tatami futons was so delightful. River stream surrounding the neighbourhood was the highlight of the stay.

you had to be extra punctual for checking out. housekeeping arrived right on-time to clean the house for next check-in guests.

A bit noisy, many cars and motorbikes passing by at night
