stunningly recovered machiya, short walk to the centre of Gion. Absolutely gorgeous place, wish I’d stayed longer. The Bath was amazing and the property felt very zen. located on a cute street.

the futons and pillows were very thin. for someone used to sleeping on futons it’s probably fine. the street noise was very loud in the morning, as the bedroom window faces the street. it’s the style of building though, and we were prepared for that.

There is a river stream directly outside the house. Very therapeutic to sit by the river. Beautiful property.

if you are not used to total floor living and sleeping plus an outdoor bathroom then you might want to rethink your stay
