Kamon Inn Hieijocho

So close to Toji train station and Kujo-Omiya bus stop so easy to get anywhere in Kyoto. Toji temple pagoda is at the end of the street! Super clean. Great to have own kitchen, deep bath and laundry facilities!

Unfortunately, the futons are very thin. So we had to double them up. The inn is on a very busy road and traffic is very noisy, so earplugs are a must. There are also no chairs so you need to be comfortable sleeping and sitting on the floor.

Nice location, short walk from Toji Station and beautiful Toji Temple. Quiet neighbourhood, clean property.

The apartment was much smaller than expected. We were 2 couples (one for each bedroom) and the smaller bedroom had no leftover space for luggage or wall hangers, like the other room. The wardrobe was padlocked, therefore not usable. He had to put our suitcase in the kitchen/dining area which was already small by itself. It would be good if at least wall hooks could be added to the smaller room. The futons were extremely thin and uncomfortable to sleep on. Noise and light from outside was clearly audible/visible at all hours of the day (eye masks and ear plugs are a must!!). Due to these reasons, we slept poorly all 3 nights, which isn't great when you're spending the whole day walking/exploring Kyoto. The dryer didn't work and we ended up having to use the Coin Laundry downstairs. The place itself is nice and definitely affordable compared to Kyoto prices, but we wouldn't stay again unless we were travelling as a couple and the futon quality was improved.

We stayed at Kamon Inn Hieijocho and were really impressed by how beautifully presented it was — a lovely Japanese-style apartment that felt clean, calm, and welcoming. It had everything we needed for our stay, including great amenities. We especially appreciated having a washing machine (with detergent thoughtfully provided!) which made travelling so much easier. The location was also fantastic — not far from a train station and easy to find, making it a great base for exploring Kyoto.

We found the sleeping arrangements a little challenging. The futon beds were quite firm — it honestly felt a bit like sleeping on the floor — and the pillows had buttons in the middle which made them a little uncomfortable. The soundproofing wasn’t great either, so we could hear people in the apartment above talking and walking around, as well as cars zooming by through the night. With no blackout blinds, the car lights also lit up the room each time one passed by.

Great value for money! The place is affordable, conveniently located near the train station (Toji Station).There’s ample space to store luggage, and the facilities are complete for a comfortable stay. Would definitely recommend!
