The lake view is excellent, the surrounding is quiet and private.

There are two guys come and knock the other day morning when we were having breakfast, around 9:30 am if I remember correctly. They claim that they're here to measure the size for new window or something. Although they did not enter the room, but it's still kind of disturbing, would be nice if we've been noticed in advance.

The location and the views are amazing. Beautiful sunsets and lovely night sky views. 40 minutes to Mount Cook, 40 minutes to Lake Tekapo and 20 minutes to Twizel.

We spent the month travelling across New Zealand, and this was the most expensive accommodation we booked, and it was not good value for money. We don't mind spending, when it is worth it. The property was basic, no decor. Absolutely no storage facilities, no wardrobes to even hang up some clothes which we even had in the cheapest accommodation. The single beds were uncomfortable, there was also a door leading outside from one of the twin rooms that did not lock. Our friends were a little uncomfortable with this, especially as we arrived at night. We called our hosts and asked for help, as we had many issues when we arrived. The owner arrived and he just laughed when we mentioned the door and said he didn't know where the key was but told us it would be fine as we were in the middle of nowhere. We also couldn't get the TV to work, which he eventually fixed but the issue with that is that they have very outdated facilities so it doesn't work properly. The photos make it look very private, but we had other guests walking right along our property at night and through the day, we didn't realise that was another property so close as the photos made it look very secluded. The bedrooms felt unclean, cobwebs and spiders. There were holes in the walls. The electric clearly needs looking at, as we weren't allowed to use the toaster and kettle at the same time, which is just ridiculous when you are paying so much for a property. The outside lights didn't work which was very difficult when we arrived at night. Again we reported this and we were just told they didn't know and the caretaker was away, so it just wasn't dealt with. We didn't find the owner the most helpful, and there were ridiculous rules that were only sent to us after we could no longer cancel, even telling us how to sleep in the bed to save them washing.

The cottage location is magical, the view is stunning, the peace and quiet was unmatched. Sunset, full moon rising over the mountains and reflecting on the lake, sunrise over the mountains, such an array of natural wonders. The cottage was well equipped, well presented and comfortable. The heating worked perfectly and the beds were comfortable with nice thick blankets. Drinking a hot cuppa while watching the lake was blissful. The shower had a good flow and plenty of hot water. Room for improvement? Possibly a few sharp knives for chopping and a few small bowls, for those who like to make their own dinner. Overall a fabulous property I would recommend.

Perfect location, the cottage had everything you need. We will definitely stay here again! Loved it!

Extraordinary location on a lake with serene atmosphere. Immaculate cottage. Very comfortable. Owner super helpful when I had a flat tire on a Sunday and no local repair/assistance businesses were open. She arranged for 2 men from her ranch to drive 20 miles to help me. Can’t thank them enough.

Great location to get some secluded time. And stunning views of moonrise and sunrise. I liked that the bathrooms felt nicer /upgraded. Easy to get to Twizel for food or groceries.

My mistake, but I didn't realize it would take 40 minutes to get to My Cook village / hiking.
