Maria's Haven

Maria’s Haven is truly a refuge. It is easy to see that the comfort and well being of her guests are on Maria’s mind. The house is spotlessly clean, well appointed and very spacious. Having an accommodation on 2 levels is an extra bonus. The kitchen is fully functional and there is even a bag with towels ready for those who are heading to the beach. The garden has plenty of room to sit or enjoy a meal. The village is quiet, yet easily accessible. Should we return to San Miguel Island, Maria’s Haven will be our first choice of accommodation.

Defenetly our best stay in the island. Maria was very very kind, and helped us with whatever we needed. The house is amazing, the garden is magical. You can eat bananas directly from the trees, Maria even told us to take some for the way. Very clean, very good prepared, kitchen with everything you might need, barbacue on the garden. We were a little bit sad we spent only one night there. Defenetly recommend to anyone, especially for this price!

The apartment is very spacious, clean, well maintained. We felt like at home. The host, Maria, is extremely friendly and helpful and will go out of her way to help you feel welcome. We got a complementary wine and some snacks. This was a very kind gesture. The washing machine was definitely needed as we were travelling light. Santo António is just 18 minutes away from the Ponta Delgada airport. There's a small village shop 350m away from the apartment. The lovely garden is shared with other guests!

We were missing some minor kitchen essentials, like oil, sugar, spices. So we purchased them in the nearby Continental supermarket located 3.5km away. There was no shampoo. Be aware that local farmers start their day around 4am. There's also a very eager rooster living next door who will wake you up rather early ;)

Wonderful place

The house is beautiful, with wonderful garden out back, our hostess was very nice and provided us with a lot of tips for sightseeing and places to visit on the island. We were even greeted with a gift basket full of local treats which saved the day after am entire day of travel. Recommended for bigger party of friends or family :)

I arrived earlier than planned but Maria was so kind to accommodate me anyway. Travelling alone it was waaay more than I needed but what I used was truly excellent. At the risk of being too praising I really have nothing bad to say. The cleanliness was also noticeable. A fantastic view of the ocean and further parts of the island. If I visit again I hope to stay here, but then with company ofcourse ;)

Wifi cut out here and there but working properly where it did connect. Apart from wifi I didn't like that I couldn't stay longer (nothing to do with accommodation or owner).

The house is amazing, big, with garden, swimming pool 2 minutes from the house. All the furniture is new and the mattress are very very comfortable. The best thing was that Maria is an amazing host, always ready to help in any possible way. We are very thankful to her and hope be back soon. We only have great things to say about Maria's Haven!

We were a bit surprised that the swimming pool was a 2-minute walk away, but it was not a problem at all!
