Casa na Serra, Sabugueiro

Amazing location, the road is not that hard. All facilities. Lena the lady in charge was really sweet, she kept the fireplace until our arrival and she even made us a jam.

Nothing.

The location is great. There is a small hiking path that starts right from the house. It's basically the last and the highest house on the street. We liked everything inside. The kitchen has all the necessary facilities. Barbecue was allowed near the house. Dog friendly!

It's important to be aware of the steep uphill ascending street that leads to the property. It was OK for us but with a small car (say, 1.0 L engine) it can be challenging to climb up, especially in rainy or snowy conditions.

Nice two-room apartment in the higher part of the town. Balcony, big enough to have breakfast with 3 or 4, with excellent views. All tools and facilities to cook (fridge, pans, pots, utensils, oven, microwave, hob, etc.). Washing machine.

The access road to the house is horrible: very steep inclination with a sharp 90+ degree turn, and the "road" (hard to call this a road, really) mostly broken/crumbled. It's borderline dangerous. We burned quite some rubber from our wheels the first time, and slid down another time (even though fully breaking).

Really nice apartment. Lovely village. Great view from the balcony.

Stunning views, great location, clean and spacious house with all the amenities you would expect in a house (including laundry detergent and dish soap for longer stays). The balcony is to die for, we spent a bit of time there and we even watched the sun rise over the mountains. The host and housekeeper is also friendly and responsive, and she even helped us find a place to eat when we arrived quite late at night.

The driveway to get up to the house is a tad steep and requires an experienced driver of a manual car. Automatic cars should have less trouble, but SUVs are preferred over sedans since sedans could bottom out on the driveway. The trick is to go up the ramp in first gear confidently, and do not slow down or stop because you will stall. It may be a good idea to get out of the car and walk the bend so you’re comfortable with it. You don’t need to go fast just fast enough that the RPMs of the car don’t drop too low in the climb. There were also bugs (flies, spiders, very few mosquitoes though), and no AC which means you’ll be keeping the windows open in the summer. Since this is Portugal, there are no bug screens!

Nice house at the top of the village. The road up is quit steep. Nice big kitchen. Beds are good. Fine balcony with a view at the village en mountains.
