The owner of the house, Cecilia, was very kind and extremely generous. We explained that we won’t arrive till past midnight but it was no issue and she had staff waiting for us at the house with some home cooked chicken and a bottle of wine!

The host makes you feel welcome, lovely treats upon arrival, they make a big effort to make sure you are comfortable. House is very clean, beds are comfy, lots of pillows, nice sheets and extra blankets. Kitchen is well equipped. Nice views, lovely yard for good weather. Responsive to needs. Quiet neighborhood. Yes, the house character will not be for everyone but it is compensated by good value.

Everything has been mentioned in what others already said but there's nothing that would ruin your stay. We were here in winter and weather wasn't too nice so we were a bit chilly. There are heaters for bedrooms but that's it. Didn't notice the smell that others mentioned so perhaps things have improved. Wifi is poor in upstairs bedrooms.

There was a lot to like - The house was large, traditionally furnished and comfortable. Views of the sea from the balcony are stunning and it's 5 mins drive to the centre of town and a good supermarket. Communication with the management company were excellent. We stayed over Christmas and arrived to find the house had been decorated for us - and the owner sent us Christmas gifts of cake. Really thoughtful touches which made us feel we were not just 'another booking'.

Amazing house with a small garden and a beautiful view. An ideal place for trips to the mountains and the beach.

The housekeeper gave us the keys. Unfortunately, the key to the main door was missing, which they blamed on us, as we found out only after the housekeeper left. We dealt with it for two days. It was unpleasant.

We booked our holiday early 2020, but because of the lockdowns we had to postpone it to august 2022. The host was very understanding and did their best to accomodate through these rebookings. Even when we let them know that in the meantime we became proud parents and would be bringing our baby along. It was really a surprise to find that had prepared all kinds of things for they baby, from a bed and toys to even a baby bath and chair! The house itself is beautiful and really stands out from its surroundings! We parked our rental car in the attached garage and made our way up. The first thing that stands out is that everything was so clean and the garden and plants were so well kept. Even september the garden was full of flowers! These are kept by two lovely people who come water the plants every other day. The houce is very spacious. We had all the rooms to our disposal. The kitchen is nice and open and the appliences are new and clean. And, there is warm water! The boiler on the roof will refill itself right after use, so make sure you close all the faucets properly (also the one downstairs at the barbecue area!), otherwise it will keep making noise during the night. In the area there’s plenty to do and facilities are closeby. Pingo Doce is your local supermarket on just a 5 minute drive. There’s a strip with restaurants near the beach, we really enjoyed Gelato's, an Italian restaurant and Leme. The beach js one of the few sand beaches on madeira! A little higher up there’s a really nice restaurant with super nice staff called Convento das Vinhas. Also some great places to visit: Calheta Greens, a grill restaurant close to a levada we liked to walkwith our baby. And on the other side of the levada There’s a coffee place closeby called XS Cafe. Great coffee! And again, lovely people! We really enjoyed our stay on Madeira and the kind people we met and who helped us really made it even greater!
