I definitely recommend this place! If you really want to feel at home in a traditional azorian house and get to know the people this is your place to stay! Armanda is such an amazing woman, so hospitable and attentive to every detail. This is a traditional house but fully renovated and equipped with all the modern facilities. The BEST EVER accommodations you will ever find. Armanda is an amazing host who is fully committed to making your stay as comfortable and enriching as possible. The house is historic and beautifully renovated and the grounds around the house are magnificent. The house is fully equipped with everything you will need. The breakfast is out of this world. Casa do Avô José Alves is your five-star home away from home.

A beautifully and authentically renovated traditional Azorean house, which also presents the history of a family going back several generations, while enjoying all the comforts of today. Armanda's basket in the morning contained a rich and varied breakfast. There were fresh baked goods, cheeses, salads, hams, yogurts, fruit salad, fruit juice, jam, honey and cakes in the basket, so we didn't lack for anything. The apartment also has bicycles, so we were able to take a great bicycle tour to the northeast end of the island. I must highlight Armanda's helpfulness and kindness! We had a great time in the apartment, the location of which is a perfect base for exploring the island.

House was exceptionally well done, beautiful inside and out. Our kiddo loved the fenced backyard to play and explore. Breakfast was over the top good. Our host was amazing and helped our visit with itinerary recommendations and even checked to make sure things were open. It's her family's generational home and has a lot of history. This is the place to stay if you can get a booking!!

It was all good, just note the local snack bar isn't open too late so plan your meals accordingly.

Armandas hospitality is absolutely unique. The apartment has been carefully and perfectly renewed and is fully equippped. Breakfasts are just amazing:):):) All exceeded our expectations.

Very clean, comfortable and so well equipped for a stay. The kitchen had everything we needed. The house was beautifully decorated and the outdoor space was beautiful. There has clearly been a lot of thought gone in to the whole property and all the little details. Armanda is a fantastic host, so thoughtful and caring. She has put her passion into this. The breakfasts are unbelievable all the food is amazing. The breakfast basket Armanda leaves is more than well stocked and all homemade and delicious!!

Location is ok, no real views or much in walking distance but this did not worry us as we had a car, the property also has bikes to use for free and also the garden was so beautiful

The property was beautiful and immaculate, Pride of ownership and generational heritage was demonstrated throughout the property and by the hostess. It was spacious. peaceful, quiet and close to town. All the amenities of home were available. Our hostess greeted us with a delicious homemade meal upon arrival and prepared a wonderful homemade breakfast each morning, fit for a king. She made herself available and offered help for anything that may be needed. She was wonderful!
