Kaaimans River Rustic Views

Francis, the caretaker, was fantastic helping us cross the river to check in and out. The river crossing is fun and adds an element of seclusion without needing to be miles away from other attractions/ activities. The paddle skis provided allowed us to go on amazing, easy river trips to the waterfall and down the river where the scenery was breathtaking! The outdoor fire pit under the stars was a highlight, and the indoor fire was much appreciated in the cold, cold winter weather. It was also lovey to have hot water showers! The views from the lookout deck onto the river and bridge are spectacular! We had some amazing walks down the river bank where we spotted beautiful bird life, and we loved the feeling of being nestled in nature along the river bank.

The place is a lot more rustic than we anticipated and didn't quite match the pictures. The only indoor living space is the small bedroom, which makes the accommodation less suited for winter months as the cold weather limits the ability to enjoy the outdoor areas. A thin plywood door and some bamboo is the only thing separating Rustic River Views accommodation from the Main House, so noise from the neighbors travels, and there is a sense of a lack of privacy.

The location and view

The apartment is meant to be ‘rustic’ but it is basic and ‘tacky’ and not well maintained (eg knobs missing on drawers, kitchen tap leaking water). The kitchenware is basic and limited (glassware, no colander, no cheese grater, no spatula, no (braai) dish to put meat in l

so remote and beautiful, felt really lovely to just be in nature and enjoy the outside
