"Quiet hideaway beside Fota and the picturesque setting of Belvelly Castle."

8.0

A nice traditional Irish cottage next to Fota where I was attending a conference.

Shower pressure was very low and may need a pump to be added.

"First view was shocking. It looks like a garage. Inside is good but not clean. All used and old."

"Fine place to stay!"

7.0

It is a cosy place with everything you need on a holiday. Not 100% hygienic, but it is okay! The woman we had contact with is very friendly and helpful.

"Outrageous"

1.0

There was nothing to like about the property.

Upon entering the property, we were welcomed with the musty smell of damp and mould. Clearly there are damp issues in the property if you look up to the ceilings, which were disgusting. The place clearly hadn't been cleaned properly in a LONG time, as there was milk in the fridge which went out of date more than 2 weeks before our booking. The worst part, however, was the heating. There is no central heating in the property, so guests have to make do with oil radiators which plug into sockets on the wall via a smartplug fitting. The owners of the property either have these on a timer, or remotely turn them off around 8.30/9pm. We noticed the property getting very cold, and were surprised to see the radiators had been switched off. When we tried to unplug the radiators from the smartplug units, we discovered they had been GLUED in. This was clearly done in an attempt by the owner to stop guests having control over their own heating. However, the smartplug can be overridden by pressing a button on the side. When we did this, the heating came back on before being remotely turned off again. This happened repeatedly. I would not book this property again.

The location suited us

The kitchen needs a few more utensils and a few little supplies like washing detergent would have been handy (I'd stopped bringing my own as a lot of other places supply it) If you are staying with >3 people, the sofa bed is very firm.
