Two bed Cottage in Cobh

Lovely little cottage. We went to fora wildlife park for the day which has 5 minutes walk away. Really enjoyed our stay.

It was a bit to far out of your planning to say their to visit cork. Needed more bedding for the sofa bed.

This was my first time to use Booking.com. I was silly to trust the site. I assumed as it’s so advertised it should be safe enough. I was not very booking.com savvy. I didn’t read the reviews on this cottage. Lesson learned. I paid for a vip experience in foto for my family. My son is non verbal. Asthmatic. And my daughter autoimmune issues as well. I was on steroids for my chest. And I ended up getting a secondary infection from the damp and cold here. We arrived so late after being in town that it was too late to try find somewhere else. It is in the middle of no where. So u need a car. I travelled by train and got taxi. So I was limited with transport. But had booked taxi to return for us following morning. As we only booked one night. To nearly break my ankle on way up to door as there no light outside. The potbelly fire you see in pictures isn’t working and covered in dust. The bay window from the pictures in booking. Com has those cushions to cover the mould. And the smell of damp and mildew and mould. It’s horrendous. The bed was that bad I considered to let my family sleep on the floor. ( but the amount of flour Beatles and mouse droppings I was caught between a rock and hard thing) Every room and wall was destroyed in damp. This place didn’t meet expectations. It’s a health and safety issue. Absolutely preposterous. The bedding if you call it that was filthy. Body hair and blood and mould all over mattress. Bedding. Pillows. And they were damp. ( believe me I’m still dry reaching Especially as I’ve to relive it as I type this. ) the place was so dirty. Inch old dirt on appliances. Wet dust hardened on sockets and furniture. The smell of mould everywhere would cut the chest from you. I had to change bedding. I wanted a vacuum the mattress. For safety. A week on today and I’m covered in bite marks. I taught I contracted scabies. I went to doc. Antihistamines and boiled everything. All really good clothes left in the damp.

It’s clear there is something wrong when plenty of reviews are like mine and nothing is changing. That is shocking.

We loved our stay here. We were not sure what to expect having read the reviews before our stay, but we loved it! It was a weekend trip to visit Fota Wildlife Park. Very short walk to Fota. Very scenic walk also. The cottage was cosy and warm, all appliances we could need in the kitchen, very comfortable beds, plenty of cutlery, crockery, and kitchen pots and pans for cooking. The shower was brilliant, really hot water and there were towels left for us to use. We brought our own soap and toothpaste. The cottage has a washing machine and dryer if you stay for longer. The decor is adorable, we loved having our breakfast at the breakfast bar, and I love to read and there was a lovely window seat to sit at. The cottage is decorated comfortably and has a cute and lovely vibe. We really enjoyed our stay here.

The only improvement that could have been made to our stay would have been if we drove a car. We took the train down to Fota, and we were walking to the Park. You can't really walk far on the roads without footpaths, and as we arrived late at night it was safer for us to get a taxi to the cottage. It is perfect for walking to and from Fota Wildlife Park, but beyond that would be too far. We needed taxis to get around, but honestly the location is perfect and the cottage is gorgeous! The host is also very helpful and responsive. It was a lovely place to stay - if we were returning we would bring our own car and then we would have nothing to fault about our stay.

I am not sure how to describe this stay without being rude. It’s THE meanest hosts you could think of: no soap, no shampoo. It’s freezing cold- and imagine this: the plugs Re GLUED so you’re unable to use them and-god forbid-warm yourself up. Horrible bed linen. The list goes on. But main problem is the cold . I had kids with me and had to leave after one night because it way simply unbearable!!!
