Casa Sentir a Maia

A well-equipped house with a welcome set of food, a nice and helpful host, an excellent location with comfortable access and stunning views of Azores - this is how we can sum up our stay at Casa Sentir a Maia.

This place is the best. Great hosts, great location, amazing balcony to watch the waves off a crazy reef break.

I don't usually leave a 10/10 review, but this was one of the best stays I can remember. Nice cozy house in Maia, with reserved parking and a terrace with a nice view (of the sea too!) in the back. The house has every appliance you need and the hosts are available and swift to reply to emails. They also left us some treats and breakfast supplies, which was very appreciated. Really recommended!

The house is an older Azorean house, situated in one of the picturesque streets of Maia, but on the edge. It has just been completely renovated, great! The prices for accommodation on the island of Sao-Miguel are partly completely exaggerated, crazy overpriced, I think the ratio was still largely correct here, almost an isolated case. Although the house has no garden, it has large rooms (two bedrooms) and a wonderful large terrace on two levels and a barbecue area. Perfect for relaxing and enjoying the sound of the sea with side sea views. A private parking lot was available. Certainly, 3 or even 4 people can have a good rest there. The landlords are very nice, had already filled the fridge for 3 days, there were delicious Azorean bananas, apples, juices, water, wine, butter and eggs, plus fresh cheese, ham and sausage. Since we arrived on Sunday evening, it was really great, a great positive surprise. They were always approachable and happy to help, communication was perfect, great check-in. We felt very comfortable, and the internet was good. There were two great restaurants locally, barely a 3 minute walk away. Maia used to be a bit isolated, but thanks to the relatively new expressway, you can get to any place on the island quite quickly. The beach in Maia is beautiful, 5 km the top beach in Porto Formoso. Overall we had a great week there, will definitely be back and will recommend to friends. Thanks!

We spent the last days of our honeymoon in this place and we would have following points to mention: -When we arrived, there was a festival taking place in front of the apartment, around the church, with loud music and firework until deep in the night. The owner was not forthcoming about this and didn’t let us know in advance - we were exhausted when we arrived, but we couldn't relax with everything going on. More disturbingly was a cow auction that took place the following night, after which young cows were tied up to street furniture and left for the night, distressed and alone, all the while bellowing for their herd. Meanwhile the local population was having a blast at the church square once again. Apparently this is a regular part of the festivities and a thing which the owner should have informed us about. -The walls are paper thin, we woke up in the morning because of the neighbours starting their day. -Before being able to take a shower, we had to remove the previous guests' hair from the drain, as it completely blocked it. This is something that should be part of every normal cleaning and we were disappointed by this oversight. -The shower head is shoddy and definitely needs to be replaced.

Clean, nice house with everything you need.

The view to the ocean was nice. You could even hear the waves at night:-) The kitchen had everything I needed. Very nice welcome present. Comunication with host was fast, helpful, easy and friendly. some very cute cats came to say hello now and then.

They had a basket with regional goodies and We loved it.
