Host & Stay - Tarn Lodge

We stayed at Tarn Lodge in York because of location and my friends who we travel with wanted a hot tub. The caravan itself was good size, 2 bathrooms that was handy as we were group of 4 friends. Caravan alsi allowed a well behaved dog and we had one little one. Caravan also had will equipped kitchen, sitting are inside and out and hot tub. Lady at the reception on arrival, Lucy, I believe, was very friendly.

When wr arrived the first impression of walking in everything looked nice and clean beside some of the reviews I read before, however when we opened the cupboards of kitchen stuff related gadgets we found a very dirty frying pan in one draw with burned peaces of bacon on it and another draw the egg slicer as dirty as the frying pan. That made us to rewash all the other stuff before we even start to use anything. Left frying pan and egg slicer as it was and reported that at reception when we were leaving. They explained that cleaners do not check that as it is up to the previous guests to wash everything up, surely it should be checked before you let a new people to stay there again. Was not impressed about it, but I guess we were expecting too much of paying almost £200,- per night. Another thing was the EV charger. They advertise that they have EV chargers on site, 7 kW/h. But please do not relay on charging your car there as you will loose your mind. I do work for EV charging company and I have been testing several company's that are on market, never came across this one they use, and must be for a reason. My suggestion is for people working there themselves try and see how it works or perhaps support guests when they need help with it as if you arrive after 7pm, do not expect that anyone can help you and if they say that these chargers works on PAYG basis, do not believe it, as it do not work and there is no clear information of how to use them either. Make sure you have enough battery to travel and charge your car somewhere else. Bp pulse charging station - 15 min drive away did the magic. Last thing, if you stay there in a very sunny period, there is no shade. Parasol available in one of the cupboards but with no stand to place it in. Would highly recommend

Beautiful lodge in a lovely location, enjoyed the hot tub especially all the light on a night time

The property was lovely and cosy and really clean and it was very easy to check in. We had a lovely stay and the dog friendly atmosphere was really lovely

The only issue we had was the bed in the double room was really uncomfortable but it didn’t ruin our stay and wouldn’t put us off returning

Nice clean lodge, plenty of room for a family of four, it had everything needed for cooking. The park was nice and clean and had a nice bar/ restaurant.

The mattress definitely needs to be changed it had a dip in and when lying down all you could hear was the springs popping very uncomfortable. Which was disappointing as everything else was great. Would be nice to have different garden furniture as it wasn't too comfortable to sit on.

The peace and quiet was lovely the property was stunning and the hot tub was an added bonus. The kids loved it as did we

The location was OK for us. Whilst it was out on its own in terms of location, it was close by to a town so we're able to get provisions from there. I would advise shopping prior to coming. There was your general cleaning items available within the lodge. Which was good, including dishwasher tablets. The kids loved the hot tub and used it every night. The lid was a little awkward getting off and struggled with finding somewhere to put it once it was. The park was really pretty and quiet, we overlooked a lake and loved seeing the ducks. Whilst we didn't really use the restaurant the menu looked really nice and we saw alot of people eating there each day. The staff were very friendly when we checked in and went through how to get to the lodge and access using the key code.

When we got into the lodge we were really excited and impressed. However, that didn't last that long. Cleanliness has alot to be desired. I am not sure who cleans the lodges but they need to look at upping their game. There were biscuit pieces on the floor from the previous guests, pens under the sofa, mold in the double bathroom shower cubicle, the bin had not been cleaned out and was moldy inside. One of the things that shocked me was that there was a packet of microwave rice in the cupboard from the previous guests. The worst though was when we went to cook the pan was burnt inside and food debris stuck to it. The pyrex dish had not been cleaned properly and had reminants of the previous guests meal still stuck to it. We had to wash the plates and cutlery prior to using as well. This was such a shame for the price paid. The site could do with a little shop that sells essentials as well. Luckily we did go shopping for food prior to arriving but if people don't have time it would allow them to get these until they can go shopping.
