"Marvelous!"

10.0

"Highly recommendable town house within walking distance to citycentre of York"

8.0

Centrally located. Very silent street and neighbours. Parking just outside the door. Within walking distance to centre of York and local supermarket. Spacious. Well equipped kitchen. Clean. Before arrival received a thorough instruction of home, cafes and restaurants as well as things to see. Visitors should be aware that it is a two floor house with a rather steep stair, which might cause a problem for some. However it was not an issue for us. The two bedrooms and the bathroom are on the second floor. Conclusion: Highly recommendable.

Be aware that the mentioned in the papers received alternative free parking opportunities in two other nearby streets now require a parking license. However not an issue in practice as there was always parking just outside the door during the week we stayed.

"Great location. Cozy house home from home"

10.0

Lovely house. We had a fantastic stay. The house is lovely and cozy. It was perfect for our needs. We booked as needing a pet friendly house as traveling with our dog. And liked the look of the secure garden space. Great location only a short walking along the river into town. The house had everything you needed. We all had a great nights sleep comfy beds. I would definitely recommend and we will definitely be back. Perfect stay and even better it was dog friendly

Nothing we didn’t like. We loved the house it was very home from home feel

"Quirky retreat in a delightful little street!"

8.0

Farndale den can be found in a very cute, quiet little street which is a short distance from a riverside walk, making it easy to reach the centre of York or nearby Rowntree park & Bishopthorpe Road. The walk is very pleasant & picturesque and is perfect for dog walkers. The house has a small garden which is very quiet and again perfect if you have a dog with you as its doggy secure and completely safe for them to run around. The house is comfortable,I loved the dining room & sun lounge and felt the whole place was very quirky with some original features and a fab fireplace which we didn’t need to make use of as the weather was unexpectedly nice! We landed lucky with a very warm weekend in early March,no complaints here! If you are staying in the colder months though,Farndale den would make the perfect cosy little retreat. We made use of the nearby park & had lunch on Bishopthorpe Road where there are lots of shops and eateries before making our way into York. It’s the perfect location within a lovely street.

Although we loved our stay at Farndale I feel we need to mention the parking situation. It’s amazing to have on street parking which we fully appreciated however it’s a very narrow street. We witnessed delivery drivers and vans having great difficulty negotiating the street and unfortunately discovered our own car had been scraped down the side & had to ensure the wing mirrors were folded in. It’s something to be aware of if you have a large car. The rug in the lounge isn’t secure and we tripped over it a couple of times. This is the same with the rug in the bedroom which is curled up at the edge. The bathroom is a little tired and in need of a bit of a makeover and the stairs are very steep so maybe not suitable for a family with young children.

"Very good"

8.0

Location was good comfortable house relaxed and enjoyed our stay. We had a minor issue which was rectified by the owner.

Can't say there was anything to complain about. However, the stairs were quite steep, which we felt needs to be pointed out in the description of the house.

"Could be perfect with a few tweaks. Really nice house, good location and comfortable stay. However frustrating lack of a"

7.0

Very nice spacious terraced house with comfortable furnishings. Well located with nice walk into the city centre. Easy check in/check out process. Free on street parking. Accommodated a later check out time - thank you.

Lacking a few touches which would have really made the stay perfect. At over £185/night, would have been nice to have a few extra provisions to make for a more comfortable stay. The only provisions were a handful of coffee/tea bags and milk sachets along with a small aliquot of washing up liquid, 2 dishwasher tablets, 1 washing capsule and 1 small bar of soap in the upstairs bathroom. 1 toilet roll was provided for 2 people for a 3 night stay which was insufficient and we had to buy extra during our stay. Would have been really nice to have a few kitchen basics such as a little bit of oil and salt/pepper as the kitchen was fully equipped for cooking and we had brought food to prepare meals but when we arrived late in the evening there was no oil which put an end to that plan. Also no shower gel or shampoo - it did state on the website these were not provided but again, for the nightly price, would it really be too much to provide a small amount of these? It is not always convenient for travelling people to bring full bottles of cooking oil, shampoo/shower gel etc, especially for a short stay. Lastly, there was a log burner in the property which we were really looking forward to getting some use out of and one of the main reasons for booking this property. Instructions were provided on lighting the log burner which stated to light the kindling first and then add the logs to get the fire going. Unfortunately no matches or any means of lighting a fire were provided or available in the property, nor any kindling so it was impossible to start the fire; ample wood logs were provided however. We later bought our own matches and trawled half of York city centre to find kindling at a time when a lot of shops were still closed due to the new year but couldn’t find any. The logs wouldn’t take without kindling and so for us the log burner was not useable during our short stay. Such a shame.

"Generally nice property just needs some tweaks...."

8.0

On the service looks lovely, great location, plenty of room.

Some of the cleanliness kettle, shower head etc dirty, beds a bit uncomfortable and the rugs are lethal sliding and gathering up cos of slippy wood floors. Also could do with some side lights in lounge and some games.
