Spacious. Comfortable for our group of 8. Plenty of garden furniture. Nice big garden. Well equipped.

Fridge didn’t cool very well. Didn’t cool at all on Maximum setting.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful setting, but let down by cleaning standards and a few practical issues Woodlands Cottage is a beautiful property in a fantastic location. The setting is peaceful and surrounded by nature, with a great local pub The Drovers Arms, just a short, scenic walk through the woods — highly recommended! The beds are very comfortable, and the showers are powerful with plenty of hot water. It’s a lovely base for exploring the area.

However, there are a few things future guests should be aware of. You’ll need to bring your own oven gloves, tea towels, cleaning supplies, and bin bags — none were provided. The hoovers are not very effective, and the general cleanliness of the property was disappointing. It’s clear from past reviews that this is a recurring issue that the management company has yet to properly address. Another tip: keep the doors shut, especially in warmer weather, as 20–30 flies can quickly invade the property otherwise. With a bit more care from the management team, this could be an outstanding stay. As it is, we enjoyed it overall but felt let down by some of the basics.

Massive property, quiet location comfortable

It wasn’t that clean, only problem to be honest.

Nice rural, quiet location and grounds, house size great and had everything we needed.

Cleanliness, a lot of cobwebs, dust and looked like it hasn’t been properly cleaned in a while. Internet poor. One sofa was very tired!

Beautiful house in a superb location. Gorgeous garden and a great pub, the Drovers Arms, just a short walk through the woods. Great for day trips to York and the coast.

It was not as clean as we would expect on arrival (particularly the bathrooms, and dirty glass in the cupboard) and the kitchen facilities were poor: no spare bin bags, only one tea towel, no oven gloves and no foil or clingfilm. Funny musty smell in the living room.
